Veitchia merrillii...??
Comments (9)Veitchia merrillii is the botanical name of the Manilla palm, the Adonidia, and the Christmas Palm. They are all the same, just different common names. It's a builder's palm throughout Palm Beach County; we must have 500 of them in our community alone. Nice palm until they hit around 15' and then they tend to look a bit stringy. The nicest ones are planted as multiples - 3's, 5's, even 7's. They are highly susceptible to lethal yellows, although I've never seen one die from it in eleven years. Feed them well for best color and give them sufficient irrigation....See MoreHAVE: Six 10 inch Christmas Palms

Comments (14)My money was refunded. The seller told me to keep the seeds and insisted that they were for a Christmas Palm. I mailed all but one back to her, and began soaking it last night. I told her that I will grow this raisin and send her pics!!!! stanofh....I have Silver Date Palm seeds now, I am growing True Date and Canary Dates currently. Most Phoenix species look like coffee beans to me. This seed really resembled a raisin. Even my wife asked me why I was buying raisins online!!! David.....thank you very much for the offer. My brother in law ordered 100 off of ebay, and said he will give me 20 which is all I really wanted anyway. Thank you very much though....See MoreChristmas Palm turning yellow.
Comments (20)I found out what is happening to my palm trees! At this moment two of the palm trees are down to only the center being green. The rest of the leaves are brown. But one of them is healthier than ever. So I studied the root system and found out that one of the palm trees is completely choking the roots out of the other two. This is why the other palms are dying while one of them is bigger than ever. the problem is, they were planted way to closed to each other, and now that they are older the roots are thicker and the plants were fighting for root space, and one won the fight. i am just wondering, if I cut some of the roots of the other palm could I save them or end up killing the healthy, strong one? has any one has this problem with palm tree trios being too close to each other? hope someone can help!...See Moreescolat
