Need help choosing (again)

Looking for help with those dang kitchen stools for our summer cottage. The counter is only 60" long, so we're going with two stools. Plus we have ample dine-in options at the table next to it. The overhang is a skimpy 10 inches that couldn't be helped so we're thinking saddle chairs so that they can be mostly tucked away. (also, the hanging brown light is no longer there.)

My gut says the brown in the first photo. (but my gut has been wrong before.)

Any thoughts? Or am I going in the wrong direction altogether?

I love those stools and think they'd look great. Butttttt... I prioritize ease of maintenance these days, and all I can think of is that those seats would be difficult to keep clean. But your family members may be neater than mine!

Maintenance and comfort - I’d want saddle stools with some padding unless they’re just for looks and you don’t plan to sit on them.

I had a similar situation in my kitchen with a dark golden brown countertop and a Silgranit sink. I went with the Cafe Brown color even though nothing else in my kitchen was brown and the trim was all white because the sink blended with the counters better. I love it. I think you'd be really happy with the black for that reason. Also, my dark sink really does hide stains, discoloration, etc. I almost fear ever returning to a white sink!

Ok I think the violet one is a win ( I also like that it has sleeves) but this morning I was FB and I guess since I have looked at the suggestions on this thread, the powers that be thought I might like this .lace dress....and I immediately thought of you jojo and came here to share it. comes in pink and pale blue as well as black.

This is Agreeable Gray, Extra White and Gauntlet Gray. I actually think it would be a mistake to go too much gray on the body. You will already have a gray roof. Canvas Tan is a little grayer than Patience. I would not use those garage doors shown above. They are a modern design and your house is closer to traditional. I also think the wood grain and side windows when combined with stone would look too busy. I hope one of the professionals will speak to the door as I am just a person like you. What is the name of your HOA? Stay away from Unique Gray. It is lilac color.

I think saddle stools are a good choice. We have them with wood seats and they are comfortable enough for a quick. I love the look of the woven seat but also immediately thought about keeping them clean, especially at a vacation home. Your kitchen looks great!

I have saddle seats, but cloth … I wish I’d gotten leather. Mine are similar to these:

I love that woven look, but do think solid leather might hold up better.

Either brown or grey.

At our vacation place I had custom cushions made for our bar stools. I picked a Schumacher fabric for the windows and a corresponding small print fabric for the seat cushions. My upholster covered the fabric with vinyl which made them easy to keep clean and wipe up spills. The cushions also had vinyl coated ties so they they stayed in place.

I like the brown and woven seat esp with the table. I get the cleaning issue - the look is really nice but maybe you'd like something with no worries?

Go with a solid wood seat or cloth covered.

The style you picked are not very comfy to sit on with shorts or a bathing suit.

Haha - it's true - those woven seats will leave some awkward prints on the backs of one's thighs 😄

OK, I hear you all. Scrapping the leather back chairs. What do you think of these? I am actually at my cottage and realized we could easily put three roundstools comfortably at the counter. These would work very well, and require no assembly. Just wondering about the color. It comes in a lot of colors. I’m posting the tan one to show the stool clearly, but i wont go with that color, These are the three colors I’m considering

We had stools similar to those round ones with a scoop out for one's rear and were very comfortable. They did swivel and were very comfortable-enough so that my daughter purchased identical ones. I found them in a little furniture shop in Blue Ball, PA, owned and made by the Amish. It's probably no longer there. Forgive my digression; I think they would work well for your cottage.

Jojo, you don't need a larger overhang. Mine is only 8" and it's perfect.

We use these retro metal swivel stools and have had them for 11 years now and because of the steel frame the foot rest doesn't get scratched. Or badly scratched. :) If people are going to sit on the saddle stool quite a bit, I'd rethink wood. And the weight of the person.

I use a painted saddle stool as part of my decor in the LR.
