Hi gtd — to clarify, are you thinking about using the same tile on walls (except vanity wall) and floor, but in different sizes and finishes? Your blue tile is lovely, and will look so fresh with a mirror and white vanity!

the rest if the batroom walls will be painted

the floor tile is 12x24 matte finish

the wall tile for the walls around the tub/ shower combo is 10x13 , the same conpany and same color, but in a glossy finish

The blue tile is beautiful. I also adore the blue square tiles. I had a bathroom floor with 6"? blue squares almost the exact same as what you have in the photo.

That blue tile is beautiful. Where do you want to use the greenish wavy tile? I think that is the one that doesn't belong; stick to blue squares and porcelain marble-y look. The blue will be your statement in the space. Kinda similar to this?

the dark blue square tiles are my current bathroom floor which we HATE!! no argument that the color is pretty, but they are beyond hazardouz. they are a glossy finish and so slippery . me and both my daughters have slipped over the years . one daughter bruised ger back and the other ended up in urgent care with a sprained swollen weist and sling for 2 weeks. we cant wait until they are gone

i was just photographing the possible new tiles in the bathroom. the light blue wavy tule will be fkor to ceiling on the wall behind white vanity .

the white/ dolomite looking ones will be fkoor and tub surround . i wanted to know thoughts about the floor and tub durround tule with the wavy light blue

gtdj, that current floor sounds pretty but evil! You’re on the right track in letting that lovely wavy tile be the star, with simple white backup singers. I would use the matte finish on both floor and wall, and a smaller format floor tile. The slight difference between the floor and wall tiles when you mix polished and matte could look like you tried to match and missed, or the floor isn’t clean in comparison to the glossy walls.

A smaller format matte floor tile would feel safer to me because more grout = more traction. The 12x24 format might feel slick when certain hair conditioners and body products are used.

i can keep searching for something similar if the finishes need to match on both eall and floor

i could ise the 12x 24 around tub as well, but dont think i want same suze as the floor , and Im also not sure how i feel about matte tiles in general for around the tub though (?)

and glossy / polished floor are out of the wuestion for me!! never again

gtdj (autocorrect wants to call you godmother or Godiva!), I would either match finishes or use tiles that are more clearly distinct from one another, personally. But you are seeing your tiles in person, and know best. We have satin 12x24” tiles for shower walls, because I didn’t like gloss, and in my tile line the finishes made the tiles look different enough that I wouldn’t have wanted to mix them. Can I suggest that you post pics of the bath? That might draw input from some of the true experts around here.

IMO the fewer type tiles in a bathroom the better I do not think that accent tile on awhole wall will be attractive, I like 12 x24 porcelain tile on both bathroom floors and shower walls a smaller same color tile for the shower floor then if you want an accent do one vertical strip in the shower not centered and use that same accent tile for a backsplash.It gives you that spalsh of color but does not drive the bus IMO you will like it a lot longer when you keep things simple .

Youre the first person to say the accent tile wall will not look good. i am settled on it, love it, but thank you for your opinion .

also, right now, its 2 tiles ( blue wave tile and the white floor and wall) . i dont see how 2 or even 3 tiles honeslty , is too many. ive seen plenty of bathrooms that look beautiful with a mix of tiles
