Wall mount range hood or under cabinet range hood?
Comments (5)If you look at the Modern-Aire site, they have several shapes where the front tapers at the top to the depth of an upper cabinet, and the sides are straight so as to butt up to, and cover, the yellow cabinet sides you mentioned. Their typical sizes are 18" and 30" high, but you could get a 24" custom one if your budget allows. Or you could get an 18" and have a box made for above it to cover that area and to which you could attach replacement moulding. The box could be made of either wood matching your moulding or sheetrock. Vent-a-hood has a stainless direct replacement if you decide to stick with the same size you now have. I'm attaching the link to the Modern-Aire page that shows their shapes. PS-10, PS-11, and PS-26 all have the characteristics I was talking about above. Comments (5)A corner range takes up a lot of wall space...48" of cabinet space on each side. So, if you have limited cabinet space you may not want to do this. You also may have to build a diagonal wall b/w the two sides. There may be a way around this, but I'm not sure. I suggest you post your layout here and let us help you w/it. See the "Read Me" thread for some info to gives us to help you. Here are some pictures I made up for someone else asking about the amount of room a range/cooktop + hood would take up: Note: Normally, the recommendation is that your range hood be 6" wider than your range. So, if you have a standard 30" range, the hood would be 36". 30" Range/36" Hood: 30" Range/30" Hood: Even w/the smaller wall (but not so attractive wall, IMHO!), you still lose 48" of cabinet space on each wall....See MoreEbay range hood VS AKDY range hood
Comments (8)The only difference I see is the filters at the bottom where the air goes thru, going up into the hood. One has mesh & the other is....I may be wrong on the name, but....baffles(?). I have no idea if that makes a difference in the filtering process or drawing the air up, or maybe the cleaning? I'd look into that & see if one is better than the other. Otherwise, go w/ the cheaper one! I've ordered many things on ebay & have yet to have a problem. Good luck!...See Morerecirculating range hood for induction range
Comments (3)We have a induction cooktop with a Zepher recirculating hood. It has a charcoal filter and also the metal mesh filters that I wash in the dishwasher. It is fine for most things, but if your searing meat at a high temp it isn’t strong enough to remove the smoke generated. I have a window nearby so that helps in this situation. I would have still preferred one with an outside vent. We live in a condo so that was not possible....See Morekaseki
