I must have missed that post, but I'd have no problem in that room. Well I don't know, maybe the table and stools are not calling my name and couch or lounge would suit me better........but I'd be ok with that room.

The sunroom looks fine to me with those windows. You will appreciate the warmth from the sun, as Sausalito has the same climate as San Francisco and can be a bit chilly most of the time, with high temperatures in the 60s in summer. No frost (and certainly no snow) in the winter, but expect high temps in the 50s.

You'll have great views in Sausalito of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, the bay, and the East Bay. There are great shops in Sausalito, but also hoards of tourists, and you have to drive across the bridge to get to SF. However, you'll have Marin County at your feet.

Personally, I would replace the stools with chairs that have backs. I might fall off otherwise.

Sausalito + Jinx = Heaven. I am an hour away to the South. I'll bring over the cornbread dish you gave me the recipe for. We can work off the calories strolling the Marin Headlands after dinner.

Sausalito is just north of the GG Bridge. I am a little less than an hour south of it. Though currently I am still in Austin.

This lovely park is about five minutes from your new house. The weather here is always perfect. Not too foggy and cold, not too hot.

Please buy it for me. Reminds me of my late mother, who lived in Sausalito for two years (one year in Santa Rosa for a total of 3 years teaching in SF, at Presidio Middle school where she was the school librarian) right before she married my Dad and he brought her back to her home state of MI. That I was never able to visit there with her is one of my great regrets. Here's a shot of her kick butt duplex and another of her reading in front of her kick butt bay window. This was about 1958. I'm sure it is super built up now, but back then it was a bohemian address. We had that bamboo chair still while I was growing up. It finally broke. If I had room now for a replica I would get one, but instead I have these Bertoia chairs which came from my Aunt.

The view out the window of your dream sunroom looks very similar to the one out the window of my Mom's place . . .

Mom was a real beauty, with red hair. She gave up a lot to move to our small town and raise my brother and me. A LOT. She was actually from a small Michigan town, but she had many CA connections through the Adventists with whom she went to boarding school and college. She traveled and taught for many years before settling down to raise a family. She told me a lot about the area but I have never been able to have the time to visit . . . I've been to the LA area three times but never northern CA. Bucket list . . .

Edited to add that I double tear up whenever I look at those photos, because that is my grandmother's writing at the bottom of the apt. photo. Those are probably photos Mom sent back to her in MI.

Red hair! My DD is a redhead, blue eyes, nearly six feet tall. Both of those from her late dad’s side. :)

that made me LOL. but honestly, I love skywalls! I would be thrilled to have something like that...... except for the fact that I sunburn easily and would need to avoid that room half the day.

They used to call my Mom "Big Red" which was a joke, since she was 5ft. 2" on a good day . . . with eyes of blue. She must have gotten the short stature from her father's side, since every one in my grandmother's family, including my Mom's siblings, were very tall as were their offspring. My Dad truly did not deserve her. But without him, no me, and Mom was pretty happy to have me, overall . . . I got her eyes with thanks also to my Dad's mom Sara for the other recessive blue gene. Otherwise I favor my Dad's side of the family. So much so that my aunt's family (Dad's sister) freaks when I visit because I look so much like their mother, only 30 years younger . . .

Seattle, my dream is to move to Seattle. I’ve spent a lot of time there and love the weather. We can meet up with Zalco halfway. :)

Jinx, if you're moving to Seattle, you know it has to be onto a houseboat right?

I have a former student now living in Santa Rosa CA and running their farmer's market. It is brutally expensive. They have to share a house with another couple and still barely making ends meet.

Another friend and her husband tried Portland WA but had to come back, even with both of them working (teachers) a house and family was out of their budget . . .

Pink, funny, I saw a houseboat there for sale a while back, it was so cool! And the houseboat people all party together, which would be heaven for an extrovert like me. :D
