You can obviously do anything you like, it's your house! But if this were my house I'd get the white and add a topper of some kind or some other variety of window treatment in a fabric that is compatible with the bedding to soften the hard square shape of a blind/shade. Heaven forbid something happens to that comforter (or you get tired of it) and now you're stuck with a pricey blue shade you may not be able to do anything with. Colors go "in" and "out" and in 5 years you may not be able to find anything with that shade of blue, so you'd be stuck trying to decorate around an awkward color like poor redlodger! Although with a "tropical" design bedding, you might consider a shade in woven wood, bamboo, or some other similar material. They're made in white as well as woodtones but have a more interesting texture than cellulars. Again, I'd soften them with some kind of fabric on the window, or select a woven-wood shade with a decorative valance (like Bali's Natural Shade, for example).

I posted a while back for help deciding on wood blinds. In the end, with much help from posters here, I decided to go ahead and order some standard size wood blinds from JC Penney. I started out by putting them just in our family room windows. I found that I loved them so much that I wound up ordering them for every window in the house. I ordered the white ones and find that they reflect a lot of light and really brighten up the rooms, too. I'm sorry that I can't add any info about how they are to raise and lower on a daily basis because I just tilt them open and closed. We haven't had them for long, but so far we only raise them a bit if we open a window. Hope this helps.

We have Hunter Douglas designer screen shades in our MB (and other rooms as well). You can choose from very sheer, to less sheer, to opaque (or practically so), in a variety of colors and patterns (I think all the fabrics are actually vinyl, and are easily wiped free of dust). We used a fairly sheer black fabric in our MB, and have micropleat black out shades installed behind them. I lower the micropleat shades at night, and then raise them all the way up in the morning. Little pinholes of light do come in through the holes for the strings, but the room is still plenty dark. The micropleat shades also come in a privacy version, which probably allows light to shine through (no idea how much), while preserving the privacy of the rooms occupants.

We live by a lake with a south view thus getting a lot of sun in the afternoon. We were looking at roller shades with a 3% openness but am wondering if that would block the sun enough. Thinking also of going with a light filtering (cloth like material... don’t like the paper) cellular shade. We think the roller shades look better for a lake Home. However,the cellular would insulate better... live in cold minnesota ... but it seems to look to formal. Not sure what to do.
