Design Dilemma Paint Exterior

Need Advice on Exterior Paint Colors

My son wants to have his house painted, after getting new windows and remodeling a bathroom. He and his wife like a white or cream for the body, a blue for the shutters and a terracotta door. What do you think about something like these? I’m worried if the right colors aren’t chosen. It could either look black and orange (Halloween) or red, white and blue.

I like those colors together. It looks like the Origami matches the brick, so they won't haft to paint that. If they do paint the brick, tell them to make sure it is the right paint formulated for brick. But I don't see why they would.

They should remove the rustic elements (shutters/window box) and lean into MCM with a new front door. If they plan to paint the brick and siding the same, send them to Romabio for a masonry paint match. This is cute except for the shutters which are all wrong and should be removed. They would do well to plan for a walk to the street instead of hugging the house.

Wow, great advice Mrsshayne - maybe you can give me some help! I have to replace my roof so I can change up my colors a bit. I will be putting on a bronze soffit and fascia and adding a pool out back. I would like to use blues as my pool accent color so trying to incorporate a color scheme that would coordinate. But it seems every picture of every exterior home nowadays has white soffit/fascia. Any suggestions on changing up my drab brown house? I like the new greys that are out but I am a "warm" tone person? (Very conflicting, huh!?)

Sylvia Lol no I won't paint the brick just the rest!!! I got some samples from home Depot today!!! I'll paint a couple of them and see what u guys think... I really don't lie the colors of the brick and I think dark colors get dirty too fast and is too noticeable!!! Love pictures 2 and 3, and the idea of black light fixtures. Are you painting the shutters or replacing them? If you are replacing them, take the old ones off and look at your house with no shutters. Your house may look larger without shutters, ours did. The current shutters look too narrow for the windows (you have nice size window). Each shutter on a window should be half the width of the window, so if they're closed they would cover the window. I know most shutters are totally decorative, but the size and proportions should be the same as if they were functional. You may not have room on the main house for larger shutters, but you could put larger shutters on the area with partial rock wall. To determine the color that would look best, take a couple off and paint them. Be sure what color you choose looks good with the rock on the front of the house.

Like those colors together! I agree with @decoenthusiaste - remove the shutters and window box, and instead add MCM elements. Landscaping will be the key to great curb appeal.
