Looking for advice on window treatments
Comments (3)Congratulations! Lovely. I would do an inside mount blind top down bottom up for privacy and light control. Blinds.com has always been my choice for a wide range of styles and options. they often have great sales. easy to DIY. then layer with drapery panels where you need/want additional decor. I like continuity throughout the home, complimentary, but different colors and styles. Not all rooms need the same thing, as you say TV and bedroom for lined shades, others privacy and/or light control....See MoreLooking for advice on best mid-range kitchen cabinet brand
Comments (9)Clean every surface inside and out, address nicks, scratches and poor door, drawer and cabinet function, including pulls. Paint in fresh white tone that compliments cabinet, counter and floor colors. New light bulbs, clean light fixtures switches and make sure everything works. Plan to offer allowance toward kitchen update if requested. With home and finance expense many buyers may prefer to move into sparkling clean space and wait to do any upgrades or remodeling....See Morelooking for advice on achieving 1930’s vibe
Comments (20)I understand that fixing up a home from scratch for the first time can be overwhelming you should take it slow and make sure you have the budget for everything, if the floors are not looking so good I would put a hold on that for now and save up it's better than finding someone to fix it up and making an even bigger mess so my suggestion is that you wait a bit. I love the blue in the kitchen and I would also paint the upper elements the same color, the knobs you choose also look really nice with the blue you did a really good job there. In case you are scared of making a mistake with the walls, and you wouldn't use any dramatic colors like the blue in the kitchen I would suggest a warm toned white, beige something that will warm up the space I think it's too white now and that will definitely help. I'm trying to see what kind of a carpet it is, how thick it is but I'm not sure from the picture. You can look into layering rugs over carpets there are a lot of websites that offer suggestions about layering thickness, colors, materials etc. and yes don't be scared to go big with the rug. I would also advise you to spend a bit more time on pinterest or a similar website and find more inspiration, make a moodboard of everything you love it will help you a lot since getting a piece by piece without an actual idea can cost you a lot of money and time and you will end up with a lot of things that just don't go well with each other....See Morelooking for advice to make a contemporary home more appealing
Comments (16)Definitely soften the trim color or change the siding and trim color. Stark white and mousy brown are not a good match. Consider having the roof power-washed to remove the streaking. I hate skylights (both the look on the outside and effect on the inside); YMMV but getting rid of that would help the overall aesthetics IMO. I don't like the thin stacked stone (or fake stone) veneer on the house foundation, steps, and matching retaining walls. I'd replace with real local stone. I would also replace the railing with nicer, real wrought-iron. Remove the storm/screen door completely, or get a wood one. Remove facade window screens during seasons when they are not necessary; they darken your windows. Do evergreen plantings in front of the section to the right that hangs over the bare foundation. I like the idea of the pergolas over the garage (and a climbing plant on them). Pergolas over windows make no sense to me. Maybe a flower box or two on the windows over the garage. If you really want to spend money, replace all siding to cedar shingles, upgrade all trim and window casing, replace garage doors with wood, and add copper gutters/leaders. I actually think this is a very cute house with a lot of potential!...See MoreAmie
