condensation drain hole in slab overflowing!!
Comments (4)This is happening to me. Has for years. The house was built in 1980. The AC unit is enclosed in an area located in the middle of the house between the kitchen and dining room. The hole used to let the water drain from the unit is probably 6" in diameter (in the floor) but larger beneath the floor and it is at least an arms length in depth. I've had sooooo many overflows in to the dining room. I think the dirt is continually eroding and the flow area keeps clogging. Heck even my kitchen floor tiles continually break because the floor is caving....See MoreNew Trane Condensing Furnace -- Draining Problem
Comments (7)An old AC man. This has been an old problem I see, but for anyone that might hit this sight I offer the following. From the picture the drain from the furnace condenser (high efficiency furnace) at the top drops down to the drain hole. BUT, just before the drain hole is the drain from the bottom of the furnace which must be a drain for coils or what ever. The furnace fan is pulling a negative pressure on this drain pipe and pulls water into the bottom of the unit. I assume it is leaking out of the lower portion of the unit onto the floor. I do not think the flow is too much for the drain. A portion of the drain water is being sucked into this lower section and then is draining out of the lower section onto the floor The solution is to break the two drain pipes apart and have each drain drop into the floor drain. I think this will solve the problem. No condensate pump is required....See MoreCleaning the Condensate Drain Line?
Comments (3)Condensate line is the horizontal pipe with the open Tee at the top, that is the cleanout. Could possibly be plugged in the horizontal line as well if you use the cleanout and that doesn't work. Where does the condensate line go? Around the unit then hook up to the dehumidifier by the filter? Or does it go to a condensate pump which pumps water through the orange looking tube? Filter says air flow and then has an arrow which way the air flow goes. Ductwork enters at the bottom and gets blown out the top. Have the arrow point left....See MoreHeat Pump condensate issue
Comments (9)Thanks for that. The condensate supposedly drains to a small pump which then pumps the water outside. I put a container there but nothing all day. When the guy came out to "solve" the problem he poured water into the pump reservoir and when it was full the pump shot it outside. Is it possible that there is a plug or obstruction preventing the condensate from getting to the pump? If I base the volume on the old Bryant, we are talking about many gallons of water. There are no wet spots around the pump, at least none that he could see. I put the hydrometer on the vent and that got the same relative temperatures to the mercury thermometer....See MoreCharles Ross Homes
