I have a pantry run in a hall just off the kitchen of stacked cabinets also. There are 4 doors top and bottom in 2 'pairs'. The lower are 56" and the uppers 22". I had also seen the 4 knobs clustered look but did not like it. Looking through photos I found one on a cabinet site where the lower doors had handles in the middle. http://www.canaancabinetry.com/gallery_7.php Since I was using handles on my drawers I tried it out by cutting out black construction paper knobs and handles, puttng tape rolls on the backs, then moving these "paper pulls" around my kitchen. Tried the all-knob look but liked the bigger handles on the long doors better (my pulls are 6.5"). So the pantry has knobs on top and pulls on the lower doors. Oh, my long doors also have a raised piece of wood panel across the middle like they are divided in two, so it lines up with the middle of that. Try playing with the paper dolls... I mean PULLS. i know the berenson bravo ones that joaniepoanie used in her kitchen can be purchased in 8 foot lengths that can then be cut to custom sizes. because they are aluminum, they are not difficult to cut, though i think maybe you might need to practice a few times to get the cut clean. but this would be a very economical route. I think the picture is an optical illusion. There is a section under each sink (probably a door) that is scored to look like the drawers and has no pulls on it. (probably a spring latch). You can't see the vertical division on the door to the far right, and the pulls to the far right are centered on their drawers just as they are on the far left. I would also suggest getting a different configuration of finger pull than oldbat2be has. Get one that is L shaped and wraps around to the Back face of the door or drawer and screws in from the back. That way, pulling open the drawer puts the forces on the Metal Pull on the Back of the Drawer, not on the screws. With the style of pull oldbat2be has, the forces of pulling on the drawer is on the Screw and its in a 90-degree angle to the direction of the drawer. Eventually these pulls can loosen because the screw can slowly enlarge the hole. Think about wiggling a pole in sticking out of the ground back and forth versus pushing and pulling straight up and down on it. No disrespect intended and sorry to be a downer, but eventually you could have some problems with those pulls, oldbat2be. I had a client order pulls like that because the were slightly less expensive and there was less lead time than the L shaped pull. I wouldn't let her contractor install them. She was furious with me, but I made her wait for the ones that would put less stress on the screws and edges of the doors.

Katrina, my mom selected recessed cabinet pulls for her kitchen. I rather like them, it's a clean look and the fronts are so easy to keep clean. They don't collect crumbs because they are curved, not squared off, and I think curved is more ergonomic. For the cabinets doors, the recess is closer to the corner; for drawers, it is centered. It is on top or on the bottom, depending. I'm thinking that some may be on the vertical edge. Tomorrow when I go over to her house I will take a picture for you.
