"Softening" the appearance of a midcentury style sofa

We have had this Holmes sofa from Room and Board for a couple of years and it now feels a bit stark/cold for my style. If I had to do it again, I would prefer something perhaps a little less angular. Any suggestions for how to soften or "warm up" this style? I am looking into some throw pillows but I wonder if there is anything else that might help? Would adding taller throw pillows bring some more softness to the sofa's appearance? (I know it won't change anything structurally about the sofa.) Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.
