Replacing condensate pump with a smaller discharge hose

My heat pump came with a Hartell KT-15-1UL condensate pump. We talked about replacing it last year:

I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning, and that solved 90% of the problem so it saved me a year :-) But now I'm having the same issue, and cleaning didn't really help. So I'm finally replacing it.

I bought a Little Giant VCMA-15:

(The recommended VCMA-20 was 220V, the VCMA-15 was 110)

It seems like a good replacement, but the discharge hose is smaller than the original! It says 3/8" tubing, so I'm guessing that the original is 1/2".

Is there a reason to not simply use an adapter? Like this:

Or do I really need to replace the hose? Replacing the pump would take about 5 minutes, but replacing the hose is gonna take more like 2 hours :-O
