Next to something reddish any blue is going to pop. What color is on the cabinets now? There are frequent commenters here who can tell you which color to use to move away from blue but it would help if they know what you're starting from as color is also partly in the eye of the beholder. :-)

Yes to my eye its the natural light vs the lighting in a show room. day light will pull blue out as well. When i look at the first picture the cabinet under the window is casting creamy while the larger cabinet across that is getting more exposer is showing blue. a simple fix would be to paint them the wall color. Another idea is to just let it rest for awhile sometimes its just the newness that makes you a bit more fussy.

Agreed! The different angles of light create more/less blue. Sadly, it's even more of a blue at night. Also sadly, they've been this color a while and it's still not my thing. :)

Years of posts about choosing grays, whites and other colors for walls, cabinets, trim, etc., while taking into account undertones, directional light and LRV. I've used her posts to choose paint in many rooms in my house. The best part is that all her advice is free! light gray vs light blue...you'll be in the same family. the walls are off...they are very yellow. correct the wall color to at least a neutral but probably a cooler undertone. I wouldnt be so quick to touch the cabinets. walls are easy. note cooler wall tones ...then come back to any cabinet issues if not resolved

Right. I suppose we could. Our aim with our house was to lighten it up. It was very dark before. I was going for a Scandie look -- white walls, natural wood, neutral cabinets. So I'm reluctant to go with dark walls.

This is just my personal opinion, but I don't think gray will look good with your island cabinet and wood trim. A true gray just seems all wrong to me. I don't know what colors you like, but a light sagey green would be beautiful with the trim and island. Personally, I like the light blue painted cabinets, but clearly it is not to your taste. If you like the idea of a grayish green: Saybrook Sage BM HC114, Cedar Grove BM 444, or for a bit more saturation, Adirondack BM 453 would all look great with your wonderful custom cabinet.

What wood is your island? We have a lot of natural cherry in our Maine home, and grey is not a good option with it. And lighting, natural and electric makes a huge difference…We live on a tidal estuary, so high tide on a grey day is very depressing and already too grey.

The floors look really pink, which I think is making the gray cabinets look very blue.
