Blue Paint for Boy's Room?

Hi! Can you help me narrow down the blue's to a nice, classic light blue? This is for a room that gets lots of sunlight. the boys want a light blue, but not a baby blue. Inspiration pics attached. We like benjamin moore paints. Thanks!

Nothing is very reliable online, but you can get an idea of colors you'd like to test. Find a few you think might work then get some sample cans to test. You can also order large swatches (9" x 14.75") from samplize.com. The swatches are made with 2 coats of the actual paint and are very helpful.

These photos look a lot like Benjamin Moore Storm Cloud or BM Mineral Alloy! Both of those are a little darker and moody, but very classic. For the same colorway but a little lighter, we love BM Gray Timber Wolf or BM Gentle Gray

I love a BM blue paint chip called Clear Skies. I'd love to try it in a bathroom or nursery someday. According to colorcharts.org, a similar SW blue would be Bubble 6770. My sister-in-law picked more of a medium blue for my nephew's room, and it really seems too dark for a child's room. If you want cheeful, I'd keep it light. Checking out the blues on the favorite paint colors blog might be helpful, too. SW Waterscape and SW Tidewater look pretty and cheerful. Here is a link that might be useful: Favorite Blues

nautical blue/yellow theme for baby boy's room

I have BM Pale Sea Mist in DS' room. It is also a nautical theme. The color is more of a pale greenish yellow depending on the lighting. I have a captains bed similar to the bed in your inspiration room, it is currently in the garage waiting to be painted while 2 year old DS sleeps on a mattress on the floor. And here is the same color when it was my daughter's nursery. She never actually even moved into the room, she wanted to sleep with her older sister. We moved here when she was 18 months. I think it looks better in the lighting when it was a "girl room" because my camera was better.

My son's room is Morning Glory by ACE. I'd guess it's pretty similar to the blue in the striped fabric in your quilt. It's dark enough not to be "babyish" without being too dark, and it's a nice strong blue without being overpowering. I love this color - usually, I'm second guessing my paint color choices once they're on the wall, but Morning Glory has been one that I have never doubted and still love as much today as the day I put it up 7 years ago. It's going to break my heart if he ever wants a different paint color. Here's a pic from when it was his nursery -- he's 6 now, LOL! This pic makes it look a bit lighter than it actually is.

Thanks all! I will try moving the tie backs. They are actually pretty loose already, any looser and they wouldn't stay put. It's just the curtain fabric is kind of stiff, so it doesn't drape really well. I think I may have actually bought the Ikea cotton ones, maybe I should have bought the linen ones instead. AKtillery - wow, that's your old house? Gorgeous, no wonder your new one is coming out so great :)

question... on the bm website, you know how it fills the entire screen with the color and then a box with the color also? But the box is always a different shade of it. which is more reliable?

Ex- I like the northern air background shade but not the shade in the box.

BM Blue Nose CC-800 (also known as 1678) or Bachelor Blue 1629 (has more gray than Blue Nose). Colors tend to look more intense in person than they do on a paint chip, so you might actually like something with more gray. If you have already bought the bed cover, take it to the paint store to select some chips.

@kandrewspa that's good to know colors look more intense on the chip. Bachelor blue is an idea. I'm also eyeing sunrise and riviera azure
