I couldn't agree with Parma more-- I am clapping wildly hahah. I was looking at a smith bros sofa when I bought my leathercraft sofa. I am so sorry that I didn't buy the smith bros. I swear it was the most comfy thing my bum had ever touched! It's all about how they make their cushions--the "sit" is firm but sooo soft and comfy. I didn't need the sales pitch or cut-away cushion to sell me... I knew I loved it the minute I sat in it. I can't really give you a price range since I was looking at a leather sectional.. but do check them out. I have seen SO many deals on high quality sofas since I bought my sofa in April. Furniture stores are struggling and offering good deals-- maybe it is different in your area but it would not be difficult to get something really nice for under 2000.

Yes, the blue is beautiful with that wood. You can do as you've shown with an area rug to brighten the space and keep the brown from overpowering the wood and leather. I personally would never pick a black or brown leather sofa with that beautiful wood. I like the orange chair, but would probably select blue for it and bring in a second chair in an entirely different but complementary style, in a print incorporating blue and another color (orange if you like, or green, or ?). That leather does not look like a light sucking blue, but one that would make the room vibrant without being too bright.

Just now seeing this post. You likely have already moved forward, but I wanted to let you know that Sunbrella & Crypton have different pros/cons. They both are considered performance fabrics, meaning they take everyday use better than your average upholstery fabric, primarily from the stains/sun effects. Sunbrella is better for stains--you can even use bleach on it. Crypton has a better "rub factor" (more durable for everyday use so it won't wear as fast). They both have improved their manufacturing process so that the fabrics have a softer touch than in the past. Sunbrella can be used, as several above mentioned, outdoors. Crypton is intended primarily for interior use. Based on your comments, I would recommend looking at Crypton.

I read a suggestion of testing fabric softness on your face or upper arm. Our hands don't respond as much as our cheeks or arms! I am also in the process of choosing a crypton fabric. I'd LOVE a cream or off white (years and years of chocolate colored sofas) but I'm scared! We have a bird who poops every 20 minutes, an old dog and we are generally messy humans. :D I have some samples on the way and plan on doing some dirty work just to make sure a lighter sofa won't make me crazy long term! If anyone has feedback on lighter colored crypton fabric I'd love it!
