If you think about it, people almost cannot view both houses at the same time. They have to turn their heads to see one then the other. I would be more concerned about this if it were the house next door. Building a house is stressful and sometimes that stress causes us to make more of things than they are. Look on the bright side, your view will be of a house color you like.

its stressed.. perhaps by the move from one place to another ..... that stress is showing by it losing its older bigger leaves ... i wouldnt be too concerned about the spots ... thats part of the shedding process ... but the key for me.. is that most of the dormant buds are breaking.. and you have fresh .. young.. vibrant new leaves coming on ... i would probably leave it alone... water it properly ... and when the old leaves get ugly.. snip them off .. and if it is an herb plant ... and i wouldnt doubt the above answers .. it could probably be cut way back ... down to perhaps 1/3 its current height.. and you regenerate a new stronger plant from below ... [i dont know if the cutting can be rooted \... bazinga if they can] .... also.. it will be a lot easier to repot ... once cutback ... not only in handling it ... but also.. with less leaf canopy.. there will be less all around stress .... try not to kill it with too much love .. ken

The verbiage here is a bit confusing and I just wanted to try to add a bit of clarity. I am not saying anyone is wrong in practice, but in this case words can matter. An estimate is a guess based on experience, estimates may be good or bad, detailed or vague, right or wrong, etc A quote or bid is firm offer to do business based on the given criteria, a quote is one half of a contract and once accepted becomes a fully executed contract. A contract signed by both parties establishes the terms and conditions of the quote. Any, or even all, of these might be omitted in building a home, but a quote will establish a legally binding price for the specified work. ------------ A LOT of contractors have gotten burned by confusing a quote and an estimate. Additionally, quotes are harder to disclaim than contractors realize, there have been many contractors who have lost cases based on quotes for work they quoted remotely. The more specific the information you give to the contractor the more exact his quote will be, because while he must honor his quote he does have a lot of leeway absent exact specifications to quote something very different than you want. For example, he might quote a level 3 drywall finish when you want a level 5. ----------- Having said all of the above, it means absolutely nothing. All you need to do to legally enforce any of these things is add a stupid amount of money and time. In the end, a good contractor who you vetted and trust, will help you develop the information you need to give him, so that he can give you the information you need. You should specify everything possible, because garbage in = garbage out, and if you plan on letting a contractor substitute his vision for yours, just offer to buy his current house and save yourself the hassle of building.

I have many junipers in bonsai pots which in summer often require watering every day or every other day. Whether or not to leave a pruning stub on a tree depends a lot on the circumstances. Some reasons that would make a bonsai practitioner WANT to leave a branch stub: 1) The branch will be used as 'jin', a deadwood feature that compliments the composition. Juniper very commonly are shown with many deadwood features utilizing stubs of branches intentionally debarked in order to kill the branch. 2) Almost all deciduous trees have many dormant or adventitious buds in branch axils or in tissues that make up the branch collar or bark ridge. If you were removing a branch near the top of the tree because the branch was too heavy (thick), pruning flush with concave cutters could eliminate many of those buds, which would eliminate potential for new thin branches to arise from tissues surrounding the wound. 3) On many species, NOT leaving a stub can cause a considerable amount of dieback of tissues surrounding the wound, creating large and unsightly scars which heal very slowly in 'thin-skinned' trees. Leaving a short stub allows the stub to die back to its attachment point to the lower order branch or trunk. Soon, a branch collar will begin to grow at the base of the branch, which clearly delineates between dead tissue and the live branch collar attempting to roll over the branch. Then, cutting the dead branch stub flush to the outside of the branch collar allows the collar to roll smoothly over the wound, reducing the size and unsightliness of any scars. This is particularly useful when working trees with smooth/thin bark, like Stewartia.
