Sky Blue Drapes off Kitchen?

So I am currently having a house built and trying to get my colors for drapes figured out. My cabinets are a dark expresso with white granite countertops. There is a "cafe/dining area beside the open floorplan kitchen. My question is this: Would it look ok to put Sky Blue drapes to cover the sliding glass door that is next to where the dining set goes? I have not seen a sky blue set of drapes in a kitchen/dining area before, so I need opinions.

I have found some random pics that show a kitchen floorplan similar and the colored drapes.

Your thoughts?

UPDATED RESPONSE: Thank you all for your advice and comments. The house is not finished being built yet, however, since I will be purchasing new furniture (to have good juju in this house),

I will be selecting furniture around the drapes, cabinetry and countertops I have chosen. I know most people do the opposite.

I want the home to feel elegant yet warm and inviting without being boring or over the top. I think I can accomplish this with adding the sky blue drapes and utilizing a backsplash to tie all of the colors in. Then adding elements like towels and vase, etc. The lighting above the island will be 3 small glitzy pendant lights like the attached pic below. Other lighting is the standard canned/recessed lighting.

The dining set will most likely be expresso in color with maybe a pop of white/expresso chairs.

Stainless steel appliances.

I have always gotten compliments on my house and do not always follow the professional decorator's rules.

Hopefully my house will be finished to move in by July or August. Hard to believe I signed the build contract last October. Builder supply issues are no joke.

IMO you get what you like. It makes no difference if you've seen sky blue drapes in kichen pictures. Your home should reflect you and your likes not some magazine's

bella... Love that Galapagos Green that lindy photoshopped. I also like the first darker one that you posted but it didn't give a name. I have uba tuba granite also and I just can't imagine a blue with it. I think the deeper color for more drama like you said would look great. You can carry it off easily with all the while in there. My walls are a deep gold (Tobacco Road) but the greens look awesome with the uba tuba also and it looks like you already have some gold in other rooms.

We purchased ours at BR stone in Pompano Beach. Just do not put a straight edge on sides. You can look at my photos, our installer did NOT put an angle on that eased edge because it was difficult to cut. My son has chipped it in a few spots with very hard objects. They are completely invisible and the stone looks like it did 5 years ago. Just passing on learnings from having it installed for years. It came in from the port of Miami. Sea Pearl has a similar look. But the slabs we saw of Sea Pearl were more grey. I really wanted marble - but not the hassle. This Sky Gold was perfect - it took me about 3 months to find it. Not many people even know what it looks like, I had to personally walk the yards to find it. BR stone knew how it looked and had 2 bundles. I was able to buy bookend slabs, so the longest piece on my counter looks like one large piece of stone. Only seam is a small seam at sink. Good luck - be patient and let me know when you find it. It comes from the mine that produced Azul Blue in Brazil. There is a video above.

So I just called Corian and spoke with customer service. They said that everything as far as tone of background and colors of veining have remained the same. The veining was a more directional pattern for awhile but any slab that is made after 2019 will have more of the random veining in it. He said “ the veining issue was corrected”. Not sure if people were calling in and complaining, wanting old, random veining pattern back. Whatever the reason, the more random pattern will be in slabs made after the year 2019!! YAY!!

use a print . blue is fine if you like it. the cabs and counter are going to be really monochromatic so a pattern would be nice. the place locally where i get decor fabrics has been bringing in quite a few IKAT prints....really interesting..some very subtle..some more bold. I cant say I like the solid blue as you show but maybe they'll be back to the side more...do what you like..anything goes but the space can take more pattern etc. I always walk thru the window treatments at Lowes and JCPENNY when I'm in and youd be surprised at how much nicer the store bought window selections are now...I usually sew them because its cheaper [or has been -fabric has gone up a lot] but anyway....have a look around

How far along is the build? I'd wait until the room is almost finished, and then come up with a comprehensive plan on how you want to decorate that area. Selecting curtains in a vacuum is not a good process. Are you going to have a rug under the dining table? Chair pads? What will be in the adjacent rooms? What are your counter tops, flooring? Can you post a photo of the finished room?

I agree this is a decision made after all the furniture is in and how does this color relate to the space , you do not just plunck a color into a room it needs context. I happen to love blue drapes but they need to coonect to something.

I'm firmly in the camp of "if YOU like it, then do it." That said, Diana and Patricia make excellent points, so I would plan on the blue drapes, but wait until you can see the whole picture and how you can best tie it all together.

Yes, but also wait until you have other elements in place before you select the exact fabric. You don't want the color to be not quite right with, for example, the granite or floor.

Sure, do it. And incorporate other splashes of that shade of blue throughout the rest of the kitchen (hand towels, vases, plates, etc.)

Sommerein the blue drapes you posted have a grommet top, which might be too casual for a kitchen like your inspiration pic. A pleated top hung on French hooks or rings, like folks have posted above, would be more elegant.

I like to pick a whole home color palette based on the colors that make your heart sing.

Do you love sky blue? Is it your signature color? Will the things you own be complemented by blue curtains?

If so, blue curtains could be a perfect accent for your kitchen that ties the kitchen space to the accents or furnishings in the living room.

You will want to add more blue to the kitchen, a vase on the table, a blue fruit bowl on the kitchen island, blue knobs on the cabinets, blue in the area rug, blue seat cushions. Not everything, but enough to make the blue curtains a part of the overall design.

Notice that the blue curtains always relate to something else in the room. . ..

Figuring out what colors you want and then how to use them in different rooms to make the whole home come together is both challenging and fun. If your not sure where to start I often start with someone's closet. What color clothing do they buy. I also look at art work and décor, bedding and upholstered furnishings. Whatever you have bought that called to you when you were shopping and said "buy me". You want to surround yourself with colors that bring you joy.

Patricia and Diana are right, you don't want to pick a pair of blue curtains only to find out that they clash with the blue fabric on the chairs that you love or the blue in the area rug that you want to buy. It may be easier to find another blue in curtains than upholstery or carpets.
