So I guess you'll need to paint the trim... What ever you do, try a sample before you paint everything. I don't see the lighing in your room but would tend to go Benjamin Moor Chantilly Lace or Simply white so it doesn't show up with yellow but try them first. White Dove also compliments Natural Linen nicely depending on the light in your room.

All of the lighting in my home is warm. I have a lot of south facing windows, I also have a lot of cranes as in my blinds, a few sofas and the carpeting that goes up my stairs and in my Bedrooms is more of an off-white color. It is just blowing my mind that this color that has such a small amount of red in it is pulling such a pink undertone.

Have you tried changing the lightbulbs to a cooler temperature white, 3500-4000? That might be helpful.

Unless you're planning on changing the floors you will need to stick with warm tones. Do you like the new wall color, but you're dismayed at how the trim looks now? The Natural Linen does work with the floors, but compounds the color. It looks like you now have too much of something you didn't like in the first place. I don't want to tell you to repaint all of those walls, but if it were me I would have painted everything a lighter color - probably Greek Villa. If you can't stomach repainting the walls, try Greek Villa and/or Alabaster on the trim. SW has other warm whites which might work also.

At first you menioned the yellow tone in the trim didn't work with the SW Natural Linen. But just above, you now mention the Natural Linen has a pink undertone? As someone above mentioned perhaps try to change your lightbulbs to cooler white instead of warm white to compensate and see how it all looks.

I tried alabaster on my walls but I was afraid it looked too white. Scared me. I have t tried Greek villa - I can’t find a trim color to go with any paint I’ve tried (20 different samples ) 😩

Yes - the NL is looking slightly pink. Perhaps due to the antique white being so yellow now ?

Just got to lowes for more samples. Uggg. Trying whitetail? Also grabbed the color stucco? May run back n and get Greek villa as well but what trim color??? 😭

I’m not a pro, but…If your lighting is “warm” that equals yellow. I recently renovated and was initially horrified by the yellowish tint of my WHITE bathroom, and fixed it easily with cooler temperature bulbs! Voila!! Give it a shot before you paint-it may work.

Alabaster and Greek Villa are light enough that you could use the same color for the trim. If you're using flat on the walls and satin on the trim they will look a little different anyway. I'd be afraid that a really white trim color wouldn't work with the floors. Once you add furnishings, artwork, rugs and maybe different window treatments, could Alabaster work for you? Sometimes we just prefer what we're used to. If you haven't lived with white walls before you might not like it initially, but when you add other decor they're not as noticeable and provide a nice backdrop for other decorative elements. I say this as someone who doesn't necessarily prefer white walls, but in some instances that is what is called for. I don't think doubling down on the travertine color is a good idea here.

That is probably exactly what you meant when you said best not to double down. Right Kendrew spa? Lol by the way, did I mention I have like 16 to 18 inches of crown molding throughout? And I really want that to pop does that mean I need colored walls and white trim? Or could I still get that pop effect for my crown molding by doing the Alabaster or Greek villa on the walls and then do the same on the trim that use high gloss?

When you change out the bulbs, make sure they say daylight type bulbs. Your yellowish light bulbs are distorting the colors of all your paint./ 3500k would maybe be best for you, 4000, might be just a bit too white for your taste

So you’re saying the trim done in oil base will yellow with age but walls done in latex will not? ( in white )

Would white tail, Greek villa, or alabaster be considered very white? They look to have just a smidge of off white to them. Not stark. However going from deep yellows to this is freaking me out.

Also - fyi - ( I’m learning this the hard way ) IF u get a sample from one SW store, and another of the exact same color from a different SW store - they will NOT be the same!! 😩😭

I would just paint all the trim with a soft warm white. I think your walls look fine and everything will be fine with the white trim and better lighting. Try SW Alabaster. They have a lot of warm whites on their website.

Soft warm whites as in : Alabaster, or whitetail ? I’m sampling these right now.

SW Alabaster is a nice complement to Natural Linen but personally I think I would prefer BM White Dove which is also a nice complements Natural Linen.

I’m having to use SW paint. Would Whitetail be a similar color to White Dove?

I appreciate each of your comments and info so much! Thought I’d update as to progress so far, because reading these blogs the past month has helped me a lot, so hopefully will help someone else.
This is in the morning light ( south facing ), and with trying white tail and alabaster trim. Still too “pink undertone” for me, but may have to eat it. Uggg going to see if I like it better after all white trim is down. Going to have to choose differently for upstairs - can’t take this color.

I like Diana Bier’s suggestion above. Have you tried changing the light bulbs yet? Perhaps I missed that you have already done so. If not, it would be easier, faster, and and less expensive than painting, and if your lighting is warm/ yellow, many paint colors may read yellow that otherwise would not. First things first…

Bulbs are not going to fix the issue. If the bulbs change the color of the trim, they change the color of the wall. Paint the trim.

I also like Diana Bier's suggestion to paint the trim the same colour as the wall but in a sateen sheen.

It can be whatever you like--the wall color, the trim color, or a totally different color, depending on whether you want it to blend in or stand out.

I’m thinking blend - I’ve discovered I really like a Mediterranean look…I seem to love the pics of all of the tans and off whites and the tannish cabinetry. Just not sure this natural linen or canvas tan would be that rich Mediterranean color I seem to gravitate toward.

So is the wall color not dark enough for you? I’m not surprised to hear of different Sw stores having different samples. I bought a sample from Sw yesterday, and it looks shockingly different from what I was expecting. Also the sample was incredibly glossy. I have been getting BM samples up until now and their samples don’t have as much sheen and it makes it easier to tell what the color looks like.

Vicki, try using Tigerwood floor can blend well for flooring and Golden Oak trim for the windows and doors.

You all were SO helpful, and I deeply appreciate all of your comments and suggestions! I wanted to update in case there were others struggling as much as I did with color choices. The downstairs is painted. I still see a tiny hint of pink/taupe undertone but the trim really keeps it from being too much, so I’m keeping it. It is truly beautiful with the trim.
SW Natural Linen on walls and SW Alabaster on trim. It totally brightened it up and looks so clean and crisp, open, airy, and beautiful. This is all natural lighting, I will be changing my bulbs to a lighter warm soon.
