Heart shaped leaves...maybe a redbud?

If you are in the northern hemisphere did it just got done flowering?

A close up showing a half dozen leaves along a branch may help.

Thanks Gary. I wasn't looking to attach any orchids. My property is very sunny with little shade. I am always on the search for tree limbs to hang my baskets from. I don't like attaching orchids because the winters are tricky. I like to bring plants in if the weather turns cold or frost is possible. I have a large oak which would serve the purpose except I had it pruned last year and the lowest limb is about 20ft high. All my orchids are hanging under the one tree which provides shade, a loquat tree. That tree shades too much. I'm constantly moving the plants around to catch more sun. I'm thinking these Guava trees might fit the bill once they fill out a bit. They were overgrown with vines and bushes (as a matter of fact, I didn't even know 3 of them were there), we spent 2 weekends chopping all the vines and bushes away and, low and behold, there were the trees. So, I'm thinking my higher light orchids may have found a new spot to hang out. Jane

i was afraid of another butt picture ... my MI guess.. would be cherry ... maybe kwazan ... or however it is spelt ... not a reliable bloomer in my cold z5 ... dont recall where you are .. and it would help to know where the tree is ... suppose it could be a crab also ... ken

S. aucuparia is a naturalized weed in my region, which also continues to be offered by nurseries and planted deliberately on properties here - by now I have probably seen thousands of examples. Nothing about the leaves of the tree asked about here makes me think it must be another species. One factor that should be considered is that younger specimens of woody plants often produce more complex leaves than older examples, a familiar instance of this is the wavy and spiny leaves of small Ilex aquifolium (that have arisen from seed) vs. the often at least partly spineless and comparatively flat leaves seen on adult trees.

Don't know what it is, but there was a weedy tree that grew on the edge of my property that had leaves that looked just like that. My tortoise used to eat the leaves. It was a lot smaller. I cut it down a few years ago.

100% Tilia. You can see the flowerbracts. Linden in the US but called Lime in the UK. By no means a weedy tree and almost never reproduces by seed here. However, it’s rather large for a garden situation and is frequently pollarded. There is also an Ash in the group and I believe the trunks pictured belong to that, not the Lime. Ash is a weedy self sowing tree in gardens. There’s also Acer pseudoplatanus, aka Sycamore, in there. Another self sowing weedy species.
