Also, at least with Sherwin Williams paints, some darker colors require a different (darker) shade of primer. We used mostly lighter colors throughout the house but painted one room and a couple of accent walls in two other rooms with SW Spicy Hue (a deep cinnamony red brown hue). Those walls had to be primed with a dark grey primer AND it still took something like 4 or 5 coats of paint for the Spicy Hue to look exactly right. Final result is gorgeous but it took some work to get there. (p.s. I KNOW for a fact that the paint used was Sherwin Williams and not some cheaper knock-off tinted to match the SW color because I went to SW myself and bought both the paint and the primer myself and delivered it to the painters.) My painters did not charge extra but I chose to pay them a small bonus because I knew they wound up doing quite a bit more work than anticipated on those walls.

I think you're on track with a grey or greige color, especially if the red shutters and door are staying. If you're painting those two, a dark navy blue or charcoal might look nice.

You have gotten a lot of ideas from your post! I do not have a cape, nor do I live in the South. Here is what I would do. I LOVE the idea of the peach/pinkyorange concept for the front door. It will set your home just a bit apart from the crowd. I would do the body of the house in a soft pale ivory, not bright white. It will work well with the front door, and speak to the roof color, while not accenting the roof. The shutters would look good in a Taupe Grey, a deep tone to work with the black windows, but not bold black. Possibly SW's Westchester Gray. I also love the idea of the large exterior lights at the front door. They bring attention to where the door is. I would paint the storm door the same color as the front door, to bring continuity. Post pics when you complete this!

IMO you are doing this backwards. Wall color last choice , Counters after kitchen design and cabinets are chosen You cannot choose colors with no lighting in place You do not mention flooring which BTW needs to bechosen before any of these things are decided . I think you need a ID to help and honestly 20' high ceilings are horrible for lighting , sound control and huge $$$$ for heating and cooling for no purpose . Too late now to fix that but slow down these other things until the space is at least lit . IMO cabinet color trumps wall color for sure Lovely looking home why fake plastic stone ?
