I need a temporary fix with this bathroom ..it’s so tiny….I don’t like shower curtain.thanks

You mean you don’t like the way the curtain is hung? You could add glass panel next to the toilet above the pony wall. (expensive and not exactly temporary). Then add a shower door. Or you could add a ceiling mount curtain track system and do away with the rod altogether.

Install a curtain rod closer to the ceiling, or even a curtain track like the Ikea Kvartal, to hide the shower ugliness. And paint the walls a less hideous color that still works with the vanity top.

I'm planning something similar, so I'll throw out some ideas to get you started. I'd do a 6 ft wide closet with a sliding door and a 4 ft wide bathroom. That will leave you 1 ft of wall space down the center for the plumbing and you can make that smaller if allowable by code and give the extra space to whichever one you'd like. Put the shower along the back wall (kitchen wall), then toilet and vanity. You should be able to fit a 26-ish inch wide shower along the back wall and a 31 inch vanity, depending on code. I say this because our hall bath is 4 ft 9 in by 11 ft, but we have a closet that bumps into the space right around the 7 ft mark, so our bathroom space would be somewhat similar. Obviously, your code might be different, but this might give you something to kick around.

Hello, Since you are planning on keeping the vanity cabinets with dark granite countertops along with white subway tiles, I think an easy solution would be to bridge the gap between the countertop and the subway tile by using a white marble look floor tile with dark veins. Below are just a couple of tiles I found on Houzz. I think using light-colored floor tiles would keep the bathrooms from looking too small or dark compared to using darker floor tiles. Are you also planning on painting the walls? I think painting the walls in a gray color would be also a quick and inexpensive way of making sure the whole space looks good. The current paint color looks like it's on the yellow side and I think your tiles, granite countertop, and the brown vanities would definitely look better if the yellow walls went gray.

Wall tile to the ceiling is a cleaner and more finished look, though I can understand your builder not wanting to go that high. You can try to get it within a foot of the ceiling, too though going all the way up in a better look. As for the vanity, you may keep the one you have. There are really no standard sizes for vanities, tops can be made in any size. What is most important in a vanity is how useful it is for storing the things you need to keep there and have access to. How useful is yours for those who use the room? Do you need more useful storage like drawers? So be sure about the white-on-white-on-white look, do a search on Houzz for "white small bathrooms" and choose "photos" when it drops down and offers you choices. Look at them until you are sick of them and see how you feel about them. Maybe you will get some ideas for other colors for the vanity, or maybe you will be sure of the white. For the tile, you are looking for the CoF. or co-efficient of friction, for the tile. Read up on it to decide how safe you want your floor to be.

HELP!! I am looking for suggestions on how I can remodel my small bathroom because I am having trouble with the design. There are so many great options to choose from but I’m not so sure how to go about it because my bathroom is very small and I would like to make it look bigger. The thought had occurred to me to go with a white off black design but I am looking for something more edgier and less expensive. I agree with a ceiling track curtain. Glass is expensive and will give more of a view into the shower, which isn't an asset.

The problem is the shower was built for a glass enclosure, but the rookie who built it didn't take into account the necessary 15" space needed from the centerline of the toilet to the shower wall. Without the needed clearance, you can't put glass there and will need to use a curtain.

I am sure you can put a frosted glass panel on the pony wall, slightly closer to the shower than to the toilet…with a small “return” to meet the shower door. You can use a frosted glass shower door, too….part stationary glass wall and part hinged door. Consult with a glass specialist. They have seen it all and will have a solution.

I think you need to explain the temporary part . I agree this is a mess and was never built right to start. Is this a rental ? Are you waitng to redo ? We nned more info as to what you want from us.

Are you the owner or the renter? Does temporary mean a year or a month? What is your budget?

Do you mean that the space allowed for a person on the toilet is not as wide as required by code?…I would think the average person would fit….perhaps a very large person would not fit?
