My laundry room is in the basement. This method only works if you have clothes lines; Get some nylon netting and clothespin it between two clothes lines so it becomes a flat surface. One end of the netting, clipped on one line and the other end clipped on the line next to it. (Or further over if your lines are real close.) This a a good method to use if you live in an apartment building with a shared laundry room, and can't hog the top of the dryer for drying. This method is portable and does not take up hardly any room for storage when not in use - nice if you have a tiny laundry room. If you have to air dry a lot of things every time you do laundry, why not install a permanent dryer screen(s). Get some window screens that are all PLASTIC, no metal, with either the screen or the frame. Then mount them to the wall at a convenient height or like bookshelves. This frees up floor space, that you would lose by using those fold up dryers or a lawn chair.

Considering pulling my budget on the bathrooms and putting it all in to the kitchen, doing white cabinets, shiny granite, farm sink and more lighting and replacing the door to the laundry room with a pretty trench door with frosted glass. Also planning on opening the wall to the dining area which is not pictured. I love white and bright and with the layout I think the only way to get brighter is lighter materials

What shade is the white on the cornice? Do you want a white as bright and cool as that appears to be? If yes, you could always start by sampling it and then move on from there. This brings back memories as I lived in the North Dallas area in the 60s. Your trees are wonderful. I would focus on making significant changes to the landscaping to update the exterior of your home. I do think getting a more MCM front door and painting it an accent color—teal or a bright green would be interesting and draw attention to it. Get rid of the wrought iron gate and put in one with cleaner lines. Get a new porch light in a rectangular shape. If you search this site for MCM exterior I’m sure you will find examples that appeal to your taste. Definitely get rid of the shutters! If the pole light in the yard isn’t functional and you don’t need it, I would remove it. Get rid of the ground cover under the large tree on the right side of the house. All of the landscaping is so mature it would be best to start over with a fresh design plan. You can work with one of the local nurseries to design and install new plantings. I think re-landscaping like some of the pictures Beth H shared would make a huge statement — just decide if you like the more structured looks or curving beds since either one would look fine with the house.
