Quartz quotes are killing me! Creative solves or substitutes?
Comments (25)We live in the PNW and have Pentalquartz like calumin and Kam76. It is made by Vicostone, a company out of Vietnam using the same method of manufacture, Breton of Italy. All the name brands use this same Breton technology to make their quartz slabs. You may have to hunt around to see who carries Vicostone in your area. It was much more affordable than the brand names. I think about $68 sf. We chose Tobacco/Bianco Romano BQ9420P, cream/taupe/grey with black veining and garnet dots. Our whole job of 36.5 sf, galley kitchen, with one seam, cost approx $2,500.00. We bought our Kraus undermount SS 30inch sink on line from Amazon, which saved money on the fabricator supplying the sink. They make a color called Oyster that looks similar to your Savory. They have other very pretty colors that you might like. I hope that you'll have luck finding an affordable quartz surface, because you'll love having quartz counters. :) Here is a link that might be useful: Pental/Vicostone link...See Moregranite or Cambria engineered quartz?
Comments (55)thanks for the info on e coli and radon, sahmmey, but like I said just quoting what the installer / fabricator said to me, hogwash or no. There may be other possible bacteria that may grow or lurk on surfaces other than e coli. then again they say those who have a not so clean home don't get ill as often as those who have a squeaky clean one and I tend to the latter. ha. I do live in Georgia now, have city water and live on a hillside with red (clay) dirt, who knows I may be getting a ton of radon emanating from the earth at this very moment but I think every little bit also can contribute, just like passive smoke can give folks lung cancer, sometimes it depends upon who might be susceptible to the culprit. one person gets cancer and another doesn't, it's all about making choices and reducing risk and 2.5 percent although small is still a percent if it's ends up affecting the person. snookums2, trebruchet and nosoccermom - I do think the engineered product may be distinguished from the natural product, with any home remodel we've done we have always tried to consider re-sale, not that we are thinking of selling now but we have a three story home and are in our mid 60s so the stairs may well make us have to sell sooner than later unfortunately; thus our consideration of the engineered produce as granite may be on the way out as far as the trends or so I've read on some threads here, but what do I know. I just want it to look good and be the best choice I can make at the time in'mho tmy jax, thanks so much I'll do a search for the Buckingham kitchen info you provided, will meet the installer this week so we shall see what we decide....See MoreCambria quartz estimate
Comments (23)Hard to believe that Cambria can ship stone halfway across the country, and sell it for less than the do in their home market.. If the OP is within 4 hours of Cambria, I dont think there will be much negotiating room as it all comes from their central fabrication facility, or a few select certified fabricators.. With Cambria, you cannot go by just sq footage. You need to factor in backsplash, cooktop? Undermount or overmount sink, seams etc, as they are all priced individually. After you determine all the intricasies of your estimate, then you can calculate it by the sq ft if you want.. All edges are the same price, which can be good, if youre going with a comparable with an ogee edge, or it can be a negative if youre just going with a standard edge.. An ogee edge on any comparable, will add to the cost, therefore offsetting the difference. If you are buying from Cambria factory store, I will say one thing, their backsplash is expensive.....See MoreCambria quartz countertop costs for 2017?
Comments (38)We appreciate all of the feedback in this thread and we'd like to clarify a few points. Cambria is proud to be the only family-owned producer of quartz surfaces in the United States. Our dealers set their own pricing, it is recommended that you check with a few local retailers to find a price you are comfortable with. For further questions or assistance our Cambria Customer Care team is available at 866-226-2742, thank you....See MoreJeffrey R. Grenz, General Contractor
