Excellent Rogue Valley order
Comments (9)I was very happy with mine as well. I ordered bands, not big ones, but they were still a very nice size! :o) I got Smoky and Paul Barden's Dragon's Blood. I did the order before Mr Barden's new ones came out. I would for sure have gotten Umbra as well. I do have some nice purple Gallicas already, and actually I am leaning toward getting Marianne. I think that would look amazing next to my Cardinal de Richelieu! Does anybody know if RVR will ever carry any of the older Barden roses? There are a few I would really like to have....See MoreRogue Valley Farms
Comments (9)I have ordered most of my roses from rogue. I have also ordered and received roses from vintage and high country roses. I am very satisified with them, especially the 5 gal roses. Occasionally though i have gotten bands that were too tiny that didn't survive. I would recommend their gal or 5 gal roses. Vintage and high country i've never had problems with band sizes. I don't pot up my bands, except for some last fall, but i planted them in yard b4 winter, i was having problems with nutrients and aphids on sunporch. All but the tiniest bands are surviving so far....See MoreEarly band delivery from Rogue Valley
Comments (12)Hi folks, Ran into a busy time (taxes, etc.), so it took me a while to get back here. Thank you for all your comments! I got several bands last spring (first year as a rose grower), plunked 'em directly into the ground, and all not only survived but prospered. That prompted me to do the same this year. It seems to me that, if you have a regular watering routine and fertile soil, who needs a pot ghetto? That said, I find myself agreeing that it is "my bad" that caused the problem in this case. I assumed that, since three out of four rose growers sent my roses to me the end of the first week of April, ALL growers in the industry have a way to make good judgements. I will not make this assumption in the future. I remain hopeful all three will pull through - Alba semi-plena, Francis Dubreuil and Papa Meilland. Francis I am almost certain will make it, a new bud has started forming; the jury is still out on the other two, but the stems remain green. Thanks again for your feedback! Comments (7)Well, here is my experience with both. I have ordered from Heirloom twice. In April my bands were smaller than in June, and I can report that at least the April ones are doing great! The june ones are new still but look good. I was surprised at the teeny tiny size of the RVR bands I received today, but they will probably do fine, they look ok. I did think they would be a little more established. They are so small, that I don't think they are ready for the 2gallon pots I had prepared for them, I think I will leave them in the band pots for a little while. I also ordered from Northland Rosarium, and those bands are doing great, too. Except I think I should have pruned them or at least disbudded, as they are very tall now, blooming, and falling over. Pretty sure it's my fault and not the vendor though. Good luck!...See Morekathyc_z10
