do NOT even contemplate in between them ... too much water competition ... first pic.. come at least 8 to 10 feet toward the camera ... and you will succeed much easier.. and faster ... do not get sucked into planting everything along the lot line.. [i am presuming you are trying to hide the neighbors house behind] ... the fact that the myrtle .... is alive.. but not aggressive.. alerts me to such ... it wont grow between and way under the tree.. only thriving near the edge.. where there is more light and less root competition ... are there power lines running thru those trees??? ken

not a tree where the branches don't start until 20' up! ==>>> no tree grows as a 20 foot stick.. so as to branch at that height.. it is trained by the owner/grower into that shape ... my 10 year old 'Acrocona' is only about 4 feet tall .. unless i am confusing it due to this extremely long winter ... if i am right... its not going to offer you much in regard to site blocking.. anytime soon ... i will check it after last nights snow melts.. and it returns to 60 degrees ... try googling the latin.. and adding : annual growth rate ... and see what you come up with ... i would not waste money on spraying the pungens.. a neighbor has been doing such for 5 years.. and the trees are dying regardless.. i dont really care what the claims of the guy spraying are .. as to its usefulness ... i usually speculate.. its a boat payment ... lol ... just save the money for eventual removal ... good luck ken Here is a link that might be useful: you can do it for other things ... first link SEEMS to say it only grow 6 to 8 inches ... which isnt going to make it very big until deacdes pass .. which for most of us.. is a good thing.. but i am not sure it will sight block as you wish ...

where are the pix of your FF order??? did i miss them???? forget about lower branches... when these trees are 20 feet tall .. and they will be.. they will not have any live branches for the first 5 feet or so ... the higher ones weeping down to the ground ... lets just presume.. until proven otherwise.. that the tree sacrificed the lowest branches to invigorate the upper ones.. and the main leader.. due to transplant ... and the digging of the B&B .... and the idiotic shearing .... stare at your first picture... long enough .. and you can delineate the sheared bottom half.. to the growth on the top half after transplant... a more 'natural' growth pattern.. instead of the forced conical shape ... it will become even more apparent this year.. after flush .. ken

i was told.. for what that is worth ... some dude contracts to provide bigboxstore with say.... 5000 plants ... for whatever reason ... he has only 4500 ... so he just throws in whatever.. in this case other blue spruce he may have... and low and behold.. you end up with something extra ordinary ... one theory ... the high income dude whose job it was to attach those labels doesnt know a pine from a spruce ... and cant be bothered to care ... second theory ... and the last ... they are seed grown and you have some cool new variation on a genetic theme ... or maybe the pot tipped over for 6 months.. and it was reacting to grow up like its supposed to ... crikey... i coujld probably keep going ... oh.. is it grafted??? .... the old theory that some scion from a branch simply refuses to turn into a tree.. and still wants to be a lateral branch ... who knows ... doesnt leave you much to decide on location.. does it.. lol .. i am going to think about the odds of all the above.. and where i would place it .. and report back ... since you have time ... great on planting time ... ken ps: the dark green down low.. might make on think those 5000 pots were close together for a long time ...
