My friend's favorite Tree & Bush in her yard
Comments (5)The tree is a cherry, I think, but it's not a Black Cherry. Possibly a Pin Cherry (also called Fire Cherry), Prunus pennsylvanica. I'm not personnally familiar with Pin Cherries but my book says the young bark is shiny red... But I suspect it's one of the ornamental cherries that doesn't get fruit at all; just planted for the flowers. The bush is a non-native honeysuckle; maybe Lonicera tatarica or L morrowii (aka Tatarian Honeysuckle or Morrow Honeysuckle). They're pretty invasive down here in NJ; I don't know about Maine. On the other hand they're tough as nails and have nice flowers and decorative fruit, which the birds like. Probably leaving one in your yard won't upset the balance of nature too much. I wouldn't cut it down until the birds leave, anyway. WW...See MoreIn loving memory of my garden friend
Comments (18)What a beautiful cat! I'm sure you have many happy memories of him and lots of pics too. I don't think I've had any cats live to be 15. I have 10 myself and one that is currently missing. I hope she comes home but she just drops in once or twice a wk usually and we haven't seen her in the last wk. One of the others is feral. I love my flowers and plants and I love my cats! I wouldn't know what to do w/o my kitties to keep me company! Our kitty friends are members of the family. I wish you the best in this difficult time. Comments (35)I say prayers for everyone in that situation whenever I am reminded of them. Like I said, I was only at the blood center and the families and friends all touched my life. It was scary at times, especially when he had a fungal infection that was not responding to antibiotics. His flesh was coming off and they didn't know what it was until the culture came back. Once they got the right stuff treating it, everything turned around. That was the infection that delayed his transplant, but as I said, he is nearly ready to return home now and was able to drive out for the day on Thanksgiving. It was great. I wish I could be there in person so you could see and feel the hope. I'll send all I can by angel wings....See MoreHappy Easter to all my rose loving friends!
