what length should my coffee table be?

I have a grey chaise (L) sectional where the full couch length is 94in but the part without chaise is only 56in (chaise is 38in wide). I want to make sure there’s enough space to get onto the chaise, and assume the coffee table should not jut out from the other edge either. *What’s the right length for a coffee table? *

The one I like is 45in, which is maybe too long? Would have to probably reach right to the edge of arm rest on side without chaise, and even then only 10in of space between chaise and table.

Any suggestions of coffee tables - not just size but also design - would be much appreciated!

I'd think about getting small nesting tables, glass topped. That way you can tuck the one piece under the other, and pull it out when you need more table space.

I agree accessorizing the room would inform the table's look. You have a lot of options in terms of colour! If going with an eclectic boho vibe, I'd be tempted to consider a medallion paint stencil for the top, upholstering the top with fabric or adding texture with fluting. I'd want to soften this table's angularity a bit. I can easily see b&w for this table or warm neutrals. All depends on desired look, budget, DIY skills, permanence of table, etc.

This is the standard guideline but you really don't have room. Why not use "C" tables? So easy to reach for a drink, device or book.

Thank you for the feedback! I actually found a table that was about 2/3 the width of the couch - 2/3 would’ve been 37in and mine was 39in. I love it! Appreciate the wood pictures shared, that’s the style that inspired me in the end. Now I’m deciding on artwork for behind the couch!
