Need ideas for creating separate spaces in LARGE master bedroom
Hi! I am hoping to get some ideas for creating two separate spaces in our bedroom. For now I am hoping for diy or cheaper ways to separate it as well as ideas on a layout for when we hire someone to possibly put up walls in a few years. (I have a 1yr old so it is not a great time for a remodel.)
The picture is taken from the bedroom door which is near the corner with about 6ft of wall before the bathroom entrance which is just outside the view of the right corner of the photo.
Right now I have the bed up against the interior wall on the left of the photo with dressers under the fan and our dog crates on the other side. We do need a tv in the bedroom and currently have it on the dressers. I do like having access to the backyard so while I don't mind changing the sliding glass door, I don't want to close it off, it also adds light in the room.
Any ideas or comments welcome! I have dreamed of putting a small loft on the high ceiling side for a desk/ and reading space but that is more of a whimsical dream than possibly reality.

Comments (9)The first thing I notice is the almost total lack of color in your bedroom. It also lacks curtains, and there is very little softness, and a lot of dark and angular furniture. In the inspiration room that Beverly shows there is a definite and very cohesive color scheme, and much more softness to the bedding, and some strong and definite pattern. You might consider buying an area rug you love and taking color and pattern inspirations from that. The art in your room is too small and timid, and I would look for much larger and more colorful art to bring life to this room. A large easy chair in front of the window in a beautiful color and some decorative pillows could also become part of your color scheme. A very spare and modern aesthetic may not give you the warm and cozy vibe you say you're looking for. It might be better to wait until you've bought the furniture you want before asking for advice since I gather everything in the room will be different. Comments (1)Option one with a smaller budget is to keep the same layout, swap the existing tub for a free-standing one. 5'6 wide shower is enough for 2, it looks like the length of it is about the same minus the bench. You can always shrink the vanities to expand the shower , you defiantly don't need 11'5 for vanity's. Option two if budget allows to re-route the plumbing, you can do the entire bathroom over-haul like moving the wall and vanities forward to expand the closet, shrink the vanity space and move the toilet on the vanity wall and the rest will be all shower. Comments (29)Not a mirror because you've got a blank wall on the other side. I'd look for one large piece of horizontal art, framed very simply, just shorter than the 2 dressers together. Look for neutral colors with some type horizontal line so you keep the serene and minimalist vibe. Comments (3)oh, ok. perfect. if there is room there, it would work. you'll have plenty of room for a rug, and a nice bench at the foot of the bed. maybe a few chairs, potted plants over by the window. The tall wall is also a perfect spot for some type of accenting this would be cute in the inset area: I'd do something like this. the blacks/whites/charcoal/leather tones, walnut, would all look nice w/the flooring. love the rug/bench too Inside the large niche, think about doing a built in piece with shelving,, or find a console to span that length. All sorts of ideas for the inset! last yearlast modified: last yearRoom dimensions, furniture and their sizes, and your needs are key. Try going on line and create a to-scale room, including windows and doorways and since you mentioned you would like a seating area, experiment with a couch and/or comfy chairs.
Add a focal point and an electric fireplace could be a nice touch with a tv that is on an arm so it can be turned towards the bed and room layout will now be an easier decision. Ground middle of room with a large rug to break up the space and create a cozy feel.
