His original post was about looking for super white quartzite and not agreeing that it was even a quartzite, its more similar to marble. He explains the tests you need to do in the first post and I think he has like 6 or 7 threads going. I just tested out our sample of super white "quartzite"... We put red wine, ketch-up, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, and a slide of lemon. We left everything for about 5 minutes and wiped it off and saw very very very faint etching, you could only see it on one extreme angle. We left everything overnight and there were no stains, only etching. The worst etching was from the actual slice of lemon and you could see a faint out line. We also noticed that the grey parts didn't etch as much as the lighter areas, no clue why. We did the glass test and it easily scratched a glass bottle. I've been agonizing over this for a few days and would highly suggest getting a sample from the yard and doing your own experiment with what you would cook with. Only thing left for me to try is heat....See MorePlease Help! Super white vs White Princess Quartzite
Comments (24)I like that pendant. (I'm looking for something similar to replace my beloved pendants over my peninsula that have some issues so I popped over to the CB website.) Are you OK with the low light output? 25 watts is very low. My two glass pendants have 60 watt bulbs and seem like just enough light. Fewer would not be sufficient. Hope I didn't burst your bubble. It's so hard to find just the right pendant shape, in just the right size, with just the right lumens, at just the right price!...See MoreSuper white / calacatta quartzite countertop - cleaning? Staining?
Comments (20)Hi Lisa. Happy fourth. We just had calacatta lux installed five days ago. Love the look. The horror stories on Houzz however are frightening. Water beads as was promised on counter when they sealed but edge near sink discolored from droplets. It did fade away in about an hour. Have you had any problems or did you have any staining? How was it processed? Ours came the day after it was cut and hoping down the road I don’t experience the edge stains. Anything you can add is very helpful. Thank you again. Your kitchen looks fantastic! After reading all this I’d be grateful to hear your experience. Tks!...See MoreIs this backsplash too busy for super white quartzite countertop?
Comments (21)I have it and love it. We did do a project with the man made and I regret it. Nothing compares to the natural stone. The super white has enough movement that you won’t even notice an etch or a stain. We’ve had ours and used them for 7 months and have had no issues SINCE we resealed them. Note we did have issues when we first got them. Had the fabricator buff them out and then resealed. And we resealed again and since then have had no issues. I had decided that we’d use the counters and if there was etching or staining we spend a couple of hundred dollars every few years to buff them out, but we haven’t had any issues! Get what you love. You’ll regret it if you don’t. Excuse mess....See MoreMrs Robson
