Can Sherwin Williams match Benjamin Moore Hale Navy?

Getting ready for a big paint project. I have a discount at Sherwin Williams. Do you think they will be able to match Benjamin Moore Hale Navy? I want to make sure it's right. Thanks!

They matched a random Home Depot bright blue for me. This should be easy for them. :)

If you will not see the two together, yes. But I have a similar blue in two different manufacturers,(I think those two) on doors that were shop finished and jambs that were painted on site and the color is not 100% identical. I can see a difference depending upon the lighting/time of day.

My husband and I painted our whole house with Home Depot Behr Ultra Scuff Defense Stain Blocking paint and primer; flat for walls and ceilings, and satin for doors and moldings. We used fine quality paint brushes and rollers. The paint handled beautifully and is quite durable and looks great. We took our time, lightly sanded all doors and moldings first, washed and rinsed all walls and ceilings prior to painting. We did all the correct prep work. I even got a 10% military discount ( I am a retired Air Force Captain). Our house looks great! I have used BM and SW in past homes I lived in. BEHR is just as good. I painted my front door about 10 years ago, also with BEHR and it looks as good as the day I painted it. We since replaced our front door with a high end fiberglass door, and plan to paint it with BEHR when the pollen dies down in the air. I can also assure you that there is no professional painter that would have ever taken the time to do all the prep work my husband and I did prior to painting. We are semi retired and have the luxury to take the time to do a great paint job! I have read countless Houzz threads on botched professional paint jobs in expensive homes. As my Dad always says: if you want the job done right, do it yourself.

Concerning the Fine Paints of Europe. DO NOT USE !! My painter suggested this for its excellent results. Well, the paint completely failed. It cracked, peeled, faded in less than one year of use. The local paint store refunded me, and many other customers, the cost of the paint and plus additional amounts for labor. FWIW: the paint store closed down & filed for bankruptcy about 5 months ago.

I had saved this listing of BM SW equivalents. It does actually list SW 7757 High Reflective White as being a good match to Chantilly Lace as Anita posted above. I also just sometimes google SW equivalent with the paint name and depending on which one, it can be helpful to see prospective matches. I am not certain if I remember properly but I think BM Simply White does not have a close enough match, but this list also lists what Anita showed above, Pure White. FWIW I used Pure White for my trim Anyway here is one listing.BM to SW Kelly Bernier Listing

You may be able to get it close enough, that it wont be noticable, but, they use different bases, and you most likely will not get an exact match. I would see if he would use the SW for you, or if not, hire a painter that will.

It will w navy just not Benjamin Moore navy. BM and SW different color based for their paint formulas. Just find a chip in SW that comes close to matching you BM chip.

There might be sheen differences but if you're doing it all in the same paint...I'd be comfortable with it.

Thanks. It will be paired with Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige (This will be an accent wall). I didn't like the SW navy's and prefer this one!

I'd buy a BM paint sample, and paint 3 coats on a board. Take the board to SW and have their machine actually read the color. Don't use their preprogrammed "match". I learned the hard way with another color, reading the actual BM sample was the only way to really get it right.

I just had a bathroom remodel painted in Naval by BM. I had SW match it, and it was not an exact match by any means!! It was their programmed match.

Thank you all for the advice. I've decided to stick with Benjamin Moore for the Hale Navy. I'm spending so much on this room, what is another 20-30 bucks? I want to make sure it's right and it doesn't sound like SW will get is exactly right!
