Looking for tree recommendation for backyard

Hello, Looking for recommendations for a tree for the backyard. there used to be small Rhode there but it died last year.

Better a evergreen tree. what would you plant there if this is a 5 million dollar house?

If you are asking about a tree to put into the red circle in your picture, unless I have miss interpreted the space, there are nearly no trees that should be put there. You don't have space for a tree like a maple, oak, beach, etc. Most of the flowering trees like cherries, crabapple, etc, will out grow the space. Japanese maples are small, but ones that are about 20 years old will be 15' to 20' in diameter.

SO you choices are limited to dwarf lilacs, nadina, Spirea, etc. and other shrubs that can be kept small.

debelli, by means of explanation..tourist cities like Charleston area and Charlotte the land value is just too high to be affordable for the better garden centers we prefer. It takes a fair distance away in less pricey suburbs to find these garden center gems run by people who know plants and area soils and growing conditions. They are much fewer and farther between than they used to be and if they don't have a good website with directions, they're doomed. One year they're there and you've made an exciting discovery. Next year, they're gone.

A favorite of mine is cascolate (Caesalpinia cacalaco) native to Mexico. Mine is a thornless variety. It is just budding now (in my Sonoran desert garden); upright spikes of lemon yellow flowers. It keeps its delicate foliage all year but thins in frost. A really hard and prolonged freeze will just cause it to shed all leaves and grow new ones in spring. Handsome form when leafless. If you want an evergreen tree, look into a mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus) from southern Italy and Greece. They are becoming popular here now, for their small deep dark green leaves and tolerance of ferocious heat, and frost-proof too. Desert willows are pretty in summer, sloppy looking (to my eye) when leafless in winter. Choose a tree that will peak below the height of the power lines. There is nothing as upsetting as coming home one day to discover the power company has disfigured your tree. As you've discovered, the two most valuable things in a desert, are water and shade. yes.. a pic would sure help us nail it ... add it in a reply ... trust me on this.. you want NOTHING that claims to be fast growing ... as it will ... too fast.. exceed your space ... trees simply do not stop growing at some magical height ... so fast to fill your space.. fast to exceed it ... also.. many of the 'fast growing' trees ... are inherently weak because of such ... many are soft wooded ... so they tend to start breaking down faster than other trees ... finally ... with trees.. we deal with tree time.. and that is usually counted in decades ... so it will be a long time.. before anything starts adding significant shade ... without a pic.. a nice smallish tree.. with a bit of spring pizzazz .... might be a redbud .... ken

Wander thru this site. If you want it to stay small, you will have to buy dwarf. If you don't want to wait for it to get to a good size, you will have to fork out $$$'s. https://www.coniferkingdom.com/dwarf-conifers/ Here is one they sell. It is in a 7 gallon pot and is $399. It grows about 3 to 5 inches per year. I know nothing about this company. https://www.coniferkingdom.com/abies-nordmanniana-silver-del/ ETA: I can't grow most of these in North Alabama even if the zone is okay. The heat, humidity, and bugs kill them. I had a Dwarf Alberta Spruce that did well for years. It was my little outdoor Christmas Tree. Last summer's drought killed it. The spider mites moved in and it gave up last fall. Nothing I did helped.

This is in seattle. yes agree some trees might be too big when fully grown. How about camelia? small, evergreen, beautiful flowers

Not even enough room for a camellia! They will get far too wide for that very narrow site. Maybe something like a Sky Pencil holly or a Wilma Goldcrest lemon-lime cypress
