Help me pick a grout color for my backsplash?
Comments (21)While every monitor renders differently (than each other or reality), I think I like the far right one the best. It seems close to the overall shade of the tile (mostly picking up on the lighter tone from the transparency) and seems to have the right balance of coolness/warmth to go with the tile. I like the second from the left a close second best. It seems a little darker and seems to blend well with the tile. I wonder if it has a little bit of an green hue? If not, then I think this one would work really well too. The far left seems too cool/blue for your tile. The middle one seems too dark. And the second from the right seems too light. I think you're automatically going to get some contrast because the tile seems to look a little lighter in the center (presumably from the transparency of the glass) and will already help highlight the beautiful herringbone pattern....See MoreHelp me pick my backsplash mural size, Please!
Comments (18)>hould I make the mural smaller (20 x 16) and use a wider border/frame or go larger (24 x 18) with the mural and use a thinner border/frame? That depends. Was there a subtle color in the image you could use for the border? I don't think I'd like it with a significant color like purple or green, but if there was a shaded light tone you could get in the mini subways, I'd do the deeper border. Actually, personally, I'd do a smaller image and a deeper border (of some other sort, like double frame effect in your picture but using a plain time in between instead of the leaves if you don't like them) in any case. I don't like the wine bottles, myself--they look too much like a photo transfer rather than a hand painted effect....See Morehelp me pick my backsplash tile -- down to 3
Comments (32)prill- so excited to see your posts on the tile. I was busy this weekend working on the house. Here's my thought....paint the cabinets first. This was key for me. The simply white is fairly true white, but not stark. The creme Rixi is really creamy and I don't think it would look good for a whole bunch of creamy subway with whiter cabinets. As someone else pointed out, my counter has minimal veining...it's more variations of grey with a touch of white and green. In the photos I originally took the stone had just been oiled (with the oil/bees wax mixture). It's been in a month and I haven't oiled since. It's faded to more natural state. That being said, I like the Rixi with more natural state of my stone. So, also take that it consideration. I say do what you love...the backsplash is relatively easily changed in 10 years if you decide your tired of it. I love color, so I'm not as fond of the creme/white backsplash. Good luck...by the way, if you are putting in Flourscent lighting or your kitchen gets northern/eastern light, the Reef gets pretty blue. Mine gets a south/west natural light and Flourscent with the under cabinets....See MoreHelp me pick a grout color for my backsplash!
Comments (5)I think it looks just fine as is. Are you getting rid of the short granite backsplash? Are you adding the mosaic tile on top of the granite backsplash or with it removed? I think it would look too busy either way. Even with the grout a matching color, which would be best, I really think it would look better if you did nothing. Money saved! If you bought the tile already, just return it. Sorry if this doesn’t help. :-(...See MoreRelated Professionals
