How would you change the house exterior?

We will be eventually but re-siding/roofing our home and I am trying to figure out what to do! What would you do? Here are a few parameters:

-I like the idea of a dark green siding, black metal roof, keeping white window trim

-We will also be building a pole barn and need a

cohesive look for that as well.

-we are currently reworking some landscaping, excuse the mess!

I am not a fan of your choices. I prefer the present color scheme.

I would concentrate in lightening up the entry by putting a light color for the door.

Get a good landscape architect to help with plantings.

Are the siding and roof in good condition? The siding looks very nice as is so unless it's in bad condition I would not personally change it as it's a very nice color. When the roof needs replacement black metal sounds nice. I'd suggest the black metal roof that you will eventually have on the house for the pole barn. You could go with a similar color siding on the barn, or go more barn-like with a red or green vertical metal siding. For me the biggest issue isn't the house roof or siding, it's landscaping --- which I know you are working on! I'd hire a really good landscaper and put my money there first as it will do the most for enhancing the exterior of your home.

If you have a picture from further away it might help others provide some specific landscaping ideas as well.

I am generally pretty happy with how our house turned out. It is about 3550 sq ft traditionally styled house. The only thing that I am kicking myself about now is the fact that while the house is perfect for the four of us, and could very easily handle another child (or 2!) I stupidly didn't plan for the fact that we had promised our dd a dog when she turned 10. Just didn't think about it in the design process, stupid, stupid, stupid. We do have a nice mudroom/laundry room near the back door with cubbies, lockers, sink, closet...it is perfectly designed for the 4 of us. It is NOT perfectly designed to accomodate a large dog crate and assorted dog paraphernalia. We are actually going to get a smaller breed than I really want due to this. We "could" expand the room...but who wants to take that on after just finishing their dream home? Plus, it would involve additional foundation and square footage as we cant rob from the adjoining room or garage. We'll make it work, but it is annoying that it could have been perfectly designed from the get-go. Sigh...

Most of the photography is done using a wide angle lens - making the place look a lot larger than it really is. Kitchen - if there were two of me, it would be impossible for both of us to cook. (I am not used to being an only cook - although I am happy to do so on special occasions, just not nightly.) My pantry has also helped me see through COVID. I am impressed with the insulation work. I am glad the bedroom is on the same level as the bath. Anything else (hey, I'm retired - I get up at one or two every morning to exercise my bladder - no stairs, and ESPECIALLY no ladder!) would not be acceptable for me. Alone or as a partner. It will all depend on how much you two want to pare down your belongings, and I mean that genuinely. If one is downsizing for the sake of another, expect future trouble. I subscribe to the YouTube channel, Living Large in a Tiny House - even though I have no desire to do so, I do get great ideas and I respect those who are trying to make that concept work. (And the guy who hosts that channel has a really restful voice.)

Sorry I do not think this house will suit a black metal roof and I agree the siding looks good as it is . You need to provide more info as to whay the cahnges at all. What is your idea of the perfect exterior maybe post some pics of that since I see none in your idea book. IMO landscaping comes after the extrior is done so slow down .

I think a dark green siding and black metal roof would look great, especially with the white window trim. As for the pole barn, it would be nice to have a cohesive look with the house. Maybe you could use the same black metal roof on the barn and go for a similar color siding, or you could opt for a different color that still complements the house. Landscaping is definitely important too. Adding more plants and flowers could really spruce up the exterior. You could also consider re-painting or completely replacing the siding, replacing the front door, and painting the window frames.
