Bosch vs Jenn-Air dishwasher
Comments (9)I know this is going to sounds nuts, but I don't think I have ever HATED an appliance, or anything or anyone, for that matter, as much as I hate my dishwasher. Consider this a public service announcement. Right out of the box, it was a complete pain, it never really got my dishes clean, no matter what. And the machine was expensive to boot! Approximately $1300-what was I thinking? This supposedly state of the art dishwasher does not do its job. I have to rinse (practically wash) everything before putting it in the dishwasher. If I don't, everything will come out with baked on food - with every cycle, including sanitize or heavy wash! And every cycle is an eternity...not one "quick wash" cycle. Before our house burned down, I had a Bosch, which I loved dearly. I would never have broken up with my beloved Bosch, but for the unfortunate fire. I could put dishes and silverware directly into the dishwasher without ever rinsing them off and they would come out sparkling clean. Isn't that what you expect from a dishwasher! I have to basically wash everything before putting it in the crappy JennAir dishwasher, and many times wash it all again after I remove things from it! I have tried it all, dishwasher cleaners, vinegar, dishwasher detergent with phosphates, dishwasher "boosters", JetDry. I am disgusted, and I think I have been beaten. I want my Bosch back, boo hoo! I understand that this is supposed to be more "green" and use less water. Hello, JennAir??? If I am essentially washing one load THREE times, that is a tremendous waste of water! Nothing green about it. About the only nice things I can say are that it is an attractive appliance, and very quiet. But I don't need something pretty, quietly sitting there, taking its sweet time, NOT doing it's job in my home! (I've worked with enough people like that!) I have contacted Jenn Air, their customer service is awful and dismissive...they got my money, won't do anything further and they don't care about pleasing the customer...simply awful....See MoreBosch vs Jenn Air
Comments (3)I don't know of a Benchmark MW drawer, but maybe you're thinking of the 800 series? Looking at it on their website, I can see it's definitely made by Sharp. The reviews I've seen of the Sharp MW drawer have been nearly all positive, especially here on Gardenweb (where people usually visit for reasons other than just bashing manufacturers they've had bad experiences with). My gut instinct agrees - Sharp has good stuff. Microwaves are all they do in the appliance area, and they've been at it for a while. Plus they're the only residential microwave I know of that is made in the USA. Also, I think that the fact they make these for pretty much everyone speaks to how good they are... Wolf and Gaggenau would not stick their names on a complete piece of crap. I'll throw in a good word for GE ovens, but Benchmark should be great also based on Bosch's past ovens. I think we are all curious to hear from someone who actually owns one of these, so if you buy one please post back with your experience! Comments (1)I would certainly get a good Bosch dishwasher over a Jenn-Air. Although Bosch makes a number of quality products, their dishwashers are what originally made them famous and are still considered among the quietest and most efficient DW's. If matching appliances is important to you I would go with the Bosch oven. Since Bosch/Siemens bought Thermador and Gaggenau a couple of years ago you might want to try one of the Thermador DW's (made by Bosch with some fluorishes added by Thermador) and a Thermador Masterpiece or Pro style oven. The Pro comes with a rotisserie and is very powerful. The new Masterpieces are quite excellent too. Greg...See MoreWall Ovens: Electrolux vs. Bosch vs. Jenn Aire
Comments (4)I looked at the Bosch and Electrolux. For some reason, I had it in my head that JennAire was not good value and/or quality/reliability (I started researching last fall so I don't remember all my reasoning or sources). I ordered the regular Electrolux on Monday. I like the smooth rolling racks, covered element and controls. Those set it apart from the Bosch for me. I have a note in my appliances spreadsheet that the Bosch racks seemed flimsy to me in person. You may to check out the GE Monogram which I thought were nice but too square for me, so maybe what you are looking for....See MoreJesse R.
