I noticed that in my north facing house. I took lots of color samples to the house to check in the light. Gray looked purple and a lot of grieges or beiges read gray. Sherwin Williams shiitake might be a color to check out as it read true gray in my light.

Purple is the complement of yellow. So if you use purple with golden oak, the oak will look very yellow and the purple very purple. It's a very energetic effect. If you're going for something calmer, then you will want to stay away from complementary colour combos.

She just asked about dark or light purple, not if it will go with her (unknown) bedroom colors or if this is even a master bath. OP, my opinion is like everyone else's...dark. That is a STUN-NING vanity! I hope I get to see it installed with your purple walls!
