All I can really offer is my experience with the older Toro electrics. They weren't a hugs sale item, but they had their uses too with very little in failures. Probably one a year came back for a larger model, but many had them to keep up w/ snow for flat roofs, decks etc. and that was their only purpose. They throw snow with moderate moisture content well enough if I recall. I remember demoing one w/ about 2 inches of the slushy stuff and it did work. My concern would be the possibility of overworking or overheating the unit. So used with care, hopefully it will be good money spent.

I don't know if electric can openers are hard to tear apart for cleaning, or if people don't know how to do a simple task, or if there's something about putting tools in a utensil drawer that drives people to clean them better than machines that hang from a cabinet or stay on the counter. Whatever the reason, it seems that a good percentage of electrics out there are pretty freakin' gross. It's touching your food, folks, so please clean it! I'll second OXO. I've never had an opener work so smoothly or last so long.

In response to emailed question-- posted here for others who might be interested -- The light from the hood is NOT glaring and I believe that I can be trusted on that because I am very sensitive to light. Never out without sunglasses. How is this for an explanation, the LED light from the backsplash is silk and the light from the hood is sateen cotton :) Noise? subjective. It's definitely not the Bosch dishwasher, which I might not know it's running if it weren't for the light, but I think it's quiet. The wok -if I have more than a pound and a half of beef or chicken cold from the refrigerator, I split it into 2 batches so that the wok temperature won't drop too much, too long. Otherwise, with vegetables, it's great.

Thanks for your response. Essentially, the Mockett Power Grommet is a power strip that disappears into the counter top. My preference would be an outlet mounted horizonally if I could find one the right size. Plugmold is probably small enough, but way too many outlets and the cosmetics are not what I would like. Larry
