Wood floors dilemma

Please help me! I have wood flooring in my home that runs the length of the house ( vertical between the longest spaces) this is not the case for the hall. it runs parallel. I hired some workers to rip out carpet in the bedroom. They ran ithe wood the length of the room which is consistent with the rest of the house but opposite from the hall. I assumed it

would be consistent with the hall. Is this correct? thoughts? also the other room off the hall would be consistent with the hall and contrary to the rest of the house if the wood was installed vertical from wall to wall with biggest space) I'm going to lose my mind. Please help, time is of the essence. Thanks so much!
