Your favorite Kordes roses...
Comments (67)Living in cold Sweden I ought to have more hardy Kordes roses but I have very few. But then I have few modern roses at all. My favourites are Frühlingsduft, Raubritter and my newest favourite, Rotkäppchen (Red Riding Hood) introduced in 2007. I managed to catch three of my Kordes roses in one photo (a bad one I'm afraid, as my camera doesn't like red). The climber Flammentanz (Flame Dance) came with the house, there is a glimpse of Iceberg to the left behind the box hedge and three Rotkäppchen, in front, red with oldfashioned form. The distances are all wrong, the house is at least 10 metres away....See MoreTell about your Kordes Roses
Comments (43)sutekesh Not exactly a fashion thing as Belami is a beautiful Kordana but a practical business decision of the Kordana growers in N. America which can only offer so many varieties in a mixed box and the pastels are less popular in general. I would buy this rose over the stronger colors, but I must be a minority in N. America. Yes you are right we did patent it. On names I sometimes have to laugh at all of this because I see posts about names and how terrible the German names are on this site. When we give it a better commercial name for the North America market or in another country then there is criticism on that. I guess there is no winning on the subject! For all the advanced rose lovers use the denomination in the case of Elegant Fairy Tale it is KORterschi. It never changes the world over. It is the legal name and all breeder rights and patents are filed under this name. You will never be confused. Plus all Kordes varieties start with the letters KOR which makes it clear who the breeder is. Same for all other breeders the varieties always start with a standard breeder code....See MoreKordes Roses arriving at Lowe's
Comments (94)Well, I checked our Lowes and HD tonight. Both had tons of 2gal potted roses, but pretty much the same varieties at both places. TROPICANA, CHICAGO PEACE, MON CHERI, OLYMPIAD, ICEBERG, CHRYSLER IMPERIAL, LOVE, MIRANDY, GRANADA, etc. HD did have SUNNY DELIGHT, which I already got last yr. They also had those weird boxed bareroots from Vigoro. Only thing unusual was FRAGRANT MEMORY aka JADIS. I almost bought one, but decided not to. Lowes did have some carpet roses, which I wasn't interested in. It was dark out when we got to both stores, otherwise I might've dug deeper to see if there was anything else that wasn't easily visible. The pallets were just too close together. There was a lavender rose at HD that had no tag. But being so dark, I didn't want to try it. Couldn't see what it really looked like cuz the outdoor lighting was horrible. Waste of time going by both places. Altho, I did pick up some cool new varieties of petunias and calibrachoas at Lowes. Oh well, maybe later toward Mother's day they might get new roses in....See MoreLots of new Kordes roses at Home Depot
Comments (27)I have been seeing the Kordes Clean n Easy roses at a couple of places near me. Did not see them at Lowe's here when I checked. But I did find them at a couple of garden centres & Canadian tire. I picked up cherry lady (aka fiji), Rosanna & Poseidon. They also had a number of others - about 10 varieties I've seen. The only one I haven't seen is brothers Grimm. That's one of the ones on my wish list. But it's nice to see them available in Ontario. I prefer to buy larger potted plants than bare roots if I can....See MoreRelated Professionals
