Fire Pit and Patio Construction
Comments (64)The service where all the pictures are hosted for this thread is shutting down. I have reposted all the pictures at a different site, but GardenWeb does not allow me to edit my posts to change all the links. Here's a page with all the pictures on it. Don't miss the tiny "page 2" link at the top of the page. Here is a link that might be useful: Pictures for this thread...See MoreWhat would YOU choose a Firepit or a Hot tub?
Comments (52)If you cant do both id go hot tub. The benefits of hot water therapy daily are life changing. Better sleep, imprived circulation, increased mobility, etc. Etc. I cant tell you how many customers come in and tell me how the hot tub literally changed their lives. If you look at it as a toy like a boat or a pool table....others are right the novelty will wear off and it will become a pain. But if you commit to using it and realize the good that it does for your body and mind and see it as a way to feel better abd live better, you might look back and see that it was one fo the best purchases you ever made. In saying that id definitey try to fit both, cuz fire pits are awesome!...See MorePatio ideas for new build (landscaping, hardscaping, lighting, oh my!)
Comments (14)Christopher I‘m afraid I don’t have any plans that show the house in relation to the lot, and unfortunately would be hopeless in estimating the distance of the land between the house and the shore. Best I can do is this picture from a couple weeks ago showing the current (rather muddy) view from the great room. I indicated the water line in blue where they’ll be building a floating dock. Does this, in combination with the floor plan from my initial post, give you a better sense of the area at all? Fwiw I don’t anticipate anyone needing to walk around the entire perimeter of the house; this is just concerning the back yard. Are there any other details that would help you at this point?...See MoreFirepit area too far from sitting area
Comments (4)With built-in firepit seating your choices are placing the seat too close to the fire, or too far away. It's whyI always recommend against it, because the "perfect" location changes throughout the evening. As for width, I like 16" or wider. Even my tiny friends appreciate the extra width. It looks like if you eliminate the seat backs and widen the bench by that amount you'll get a bigger seat and reduce the mass of the walls by a tad bit....See Morefunctionthenlook
