Taj Mahal & Warm White Cabinets
Comments (2)Wow the Taj Mahal is just stunning. If you have a sample of your cabinet take it to the stoneyard with you. I bet you will find that it looks very nice together. Good luck and please post pics of it!...See MoreHelp me pick a slab please
Comments (86)I know this comes out of left field, but we have been having a discussion in the appliance forum about robotic vacuum cleaners. I have the Neato D80, a number of other posters have some form of the IRobot. We all admit to happiness and greater floor satisfaction after having obtained one of the units. Now, my floor is cleaned every night. I am constantly amazed at how much dirt and dog hair is found on an otherwise clean looking floor. My happiness knows no bounds. I wake up to a clean, fresh floor every morning. I have dark grey/black slate with two Collies, think Lassie, and an extraordinarily messy husband. We can solve the flooring issue. All of you need a robotic vacuum. Save up for it. Life is good....See MoreTiny holes on Taj Mahal & What else to watch out for before paying?
Comments (17)As with anything, you have to watch out for the quality of the material you are buying. Taj Mahal is very popular right now, so I can see some stone yards carrying lower quality TM that is being filled to cover up the lower quality of the stone. Buyer Beware. I can't see any filled areas in the TM on my fireplace. I have seen some stones with fillers, but did not see TM with any. I'll be seeing my 3 TM slabs for my kitchen soon when we template for the counters and I'll be sure to check them again and ask my fabricator what he has seen out there. I bought all my slabs at a well regarded Los Angeles stone yard that does a large volume and carries high quality materials. I visited around 12 stone yards in the LA area and now only go to 2 of them, which had the best quality and variety....See MoreHelp Please! Dark kitchen...Taj Mahal counters? Paint cabinets?
Comments (7)Floorplan is helpful, but we also need to know how wide your aisles are currently (they look tight around the island?). Here's a quick idea (may not be feasible depending on aisle width) - it might look a little odd to leave that arch hanging but it would give you seating and remove the current barrier island. With the new opening to the LR, you could possibly close off that doorway next to the fridge (where does it go?) and/or partially close the opening between kitchen and breakfast (could be used for pantry space, etc. if necessary). I squared off the angled pantry but I was guessing at the measurements. You could leave the angle as-is with this layout, but the overall appliance arrangement can probably be improved by eliminating that angle (depending on those exact measurements). Or a similar idea with an island instead of peninsula, with the sink and DW moved to the perimeter:...See MoreGlenda Merchant
