You can keep the same elements but try mixing up the tile size and patterns. In one room the tile is set in a basic stacked pattern, in the next a running bond, an the other set in a diamond pattern, a herringbone, etc. Small standard subways in one room, then larger rectangles in the next. Etc. Pennyrounds, basket weave, yadda yadda. Cabinets? The boys can have a more masculine vanity, essentially a basic rectangular "block" of a vanity with simpler lines. No fancy ogees on the countertop, a simpler rounded over 90-degree edge on the rectangular slab with a rectangular sink. The daughters room can be more feminine, maybe a breakfront vanity with a slab top that flows around the breakfront with an ogee edge. More curves, softer to the eye. You're still staying within the same range of material and even color, just mixing up the shapes. In the end, we like what we like. You could always bring your daughter in to the design phase. Depending on her age, you can let her run with it, or if you're nervous doing that, offer her an A/B selection where you'll be happy with either A or B. Make it fun. Or you can keep control of the large elements and let her choose accents. I built my house when my daughter was five years old, we got around to finishing out her bedroom the next year. I asked her for design input in her bedroom, she wanted a "mousehole bed." She drew out a few sketches and this is what we ended up with: It's not anything I ever would have conceived on my own. So sometimes the kids can help you stretch your own creative element.

This should have all been handled in the prep. Was completely avoidable with the proper prep. But what we don't know (or understand) is why the shower walls were built out so far. One common approach would be to build jambs. Again, this is all part of the planning. Doubt the walls were that far out of plumb that you couldn't achieve a better result than you have. You should have been given your options before anything was done as what you have is not standard. There are so many ways to rectify this in planning. This stuff hurts my head.

@Kate I know I didn't pay money for it, and GC or a plumber can only be blamed here and I know like most in here do, pros or not that a handheld showerhead shouldn't be installed under another showerhead. All I did is say that any of the contractor's GC or the Plumber should have asked you and marked the locations how you want this installed or if you left them the pictures of how it should be installed they should have to make sure it was done that way, obviously, this detail was missed. I'm glad you spun the showerhead to the other side and it looks much better... Yes, the was a minor hick-up with the fixture location but I'm glad it was a manageable fix to make it look better and I hope you will shake down your GC for lunch or dinner because of that mistake and move on. Look at the overall picture, the shower looks great, looks like excellent workmanship, tiles look good, fixtures installed nicely, considering, and I'm sure you will enjoy it for a long time. I had this flooring in a home. I loved it. First it needed to be sealed because it can stain if it isnt. The sealant would have made it darker too. Your gut was correct in that the ideal grout color would have been the field color of the tile. If you try to "manually" change your grout color I think you will be opening a can of worms and maintenance for the long haul.
