need design ideas for large brick fireplace wall

Hello! I recently purchased this home (first time home owner with no design experience) and am trying to figure out if I should leave this brick wall as is in the living room? I’ll most likely be using the house as a short term rental so want something fun that pops out in pictures. Would white washing be the way to go to make it look more modern? If possible I’d love to go with a sort of Palm Springs retro theme. Thanks all!

Boho 3d morning inspiration. I was able to throw this together before looking around at my other client's projects. Thank you! A white brick wallpaper would look chic in this room! you could also post on a different site for style photoshoots. photographers would love a space like that on the off-seasons

Our shelves are thick, but they may be too rustic for you. (We live in a log home.) These photos were taken to show the supports, so they don't show much of the shelf. I can take and post a better one if you like.

Thanks everyone! As for the budget, no more than $5,000. This is more of a sitting room so we don’t need a tv in here. Our tv is in the next room. I’m thinking we’ll just do a couple chairs in here or a love seat. We also have a piano on the opposite wall. This whole house is full of shoddy work that we are trying to fix a little at a time. So, yes the floor and tiling is a mess and needs to be ripped out and re-thought.

Plant trees instead of the low bushes which accentuate the tall wall. The trees will disguise it. I don't know your zone, but I am thinking of ornamental type trees. Landscaping will be the best thing to do especially if you can combine it with the suggestion above showing steps and railing You can show uplighting and make it very beautiful. Here is an example of what I am thinking, but naturally you would need to use appropriate trees for your area:
