Need help doing a favor

A coworker of mine just presented me with an odd request. She said that she is applying for a fellowship to help pay for her to get her Masters Degree, and asked ME of all people to write a recommendation letter for her. I agreed because I have no problem helping anyone who asks but I have never ever done such a thing before, being a mere night minion for the majority of my working life. I asked her if there is anything specific she wanted me to mention and she just said maybe what a good employee she is and a good reference to her character. Anyway, can anyone here recommend a good format, things to say or include for it to stand out and not sound like it was punched out on a typewriter by a trained monkey? Maybe some of you have required or read such things before and assessed their content? I want to go ahead and do it tonight because she said she needs it by Friday and only found out about it today, and I do not want her to stress over it.

Thanks!
