Thank you, may flowers. I do love my medicine cabinet! It came to me as two separate cabinets, also from a salvage shop. I realized it would be hard to recess them into the wall, as they measure about 40 x 40, so I had the contractor wall-mount them and make it look more built-in by putting the ledge underneath. The top is built up to match our window trim (sorry no photo that shows the top; chaos reigns here right now). They used to be that kind of pickled oak finish, so this is evidence of the beauty of white paint!

Hi rtwilliams... we (I use the term loosely) are thrilled with the inset door style - only wish I'd known when we spec'd out the kitchen. Thank you for posting the picture, I've admired it many times and looked up the MFR as well. eandhl - thanks, I like those too very much. However, with the creamy white color cabinet I picked (same as my kitchen so well do I know the color!), a dark glass/combination is dissatisfying. As soon as I realized this, I moved on to a glass insert, vs. tin. Lynn - you are SPOT ON! If not a display case, do not showcase contents!! And to be honest... it may not end up being a linen closet. I just called it that for lack of a better label. It may end up being overflow shoe storage (mine of course!) and I may even give DH some real estate. The only thing purposed so far are the lower drawers, which will hold afghans/small comforters for use in the family room. Exciting (and slightly scary) update. I ordered these Wednesday morning and went to work questioning my choice. Later in the day, when I received a shipment email, I was sure it was the glass sample I'd included..... DH most kindly helped unpack and get these ready for pictures and then even told me to post my update before we start dinner. He's one in a million. Thanks for reading and enjoying with me. We had a closet the same size that my four older children (2 girls to boot) shared with room to spare, so it sounds like you and your DH need to get a handle on what is in there. Ask ourself some questions. There is a reason why you acquired 4-5 sets of bedsheets. Did you get tired of the old ones? wanted something fresh? worn out? That should help you decide which ones to donate. Personally, I got down to only had one set per child...I would strip the bed, wash, dry and put it on immediately. No storing needed what so ever. Now that the kids are grown, my DH and I recently downsized to a 2 bedroom. Even though we tried to keep things to a minimum before, it's hard to not fill the space if you have it (not overfill). When we moved, we took careful aim at the toiletries and took out what each of us needed daily and put that in our main bath cabinets. The rest went into one drawer as surplus. When we are out of the daily, we reach into the supply. Being that we had an oversupply it took many months before we had only one additional. I hate to shop, but even I have to admit I end up at the local discount store at least once a week, so if I forget something on my list, I usually have enough to get me till the next shopping visit, even if the items is completely missing in the surplus drawer. Same thing for light bulbs, pretty much everything in there. Use up what you have and quit buying, it will eventually get better. If you can't emotionally wait that long, just acccept the finacial loss (however much or little it is) and get the emotional freedom....Considering the average shrink probably charges at least $100, your getting a bargain for emotional tranquility, not to mention the marital bliss. Borrow from the library (you don't want to have to store the book after you're done) and read the 1st chapter of "The Happiness Project". My sister and I were laughing hysterically at the classifications on clutter. We both found ourselves in these classifications at some time in our lives. Your young so it's great that you recognize the tail tail signs before it gets even more overwelming. Good luck.

A few good ideas, and my little wicker basket was great. I'm in a bi-level, no doors to anything hidden, just the DR, LR and stairs down to entry door, or hallway to bedrooms. It's all open, no doorknobs even! No pantry either. We USED to drop them down over the stair rail where they landed on the 1st floor in front of the entry door from the garage! Not cool. Right now I have the basket in the DR, but don't want that to be my permanent solution. . . Under sink is low because of farm sink, but it's full! Recycling bin, DW soap, other clean up stuff. Maybe if I can find a cute basket with a lid that's small enough, I can keep it in the dining room. We used to have an old family wooden picnic basket, but I think after 60+ years it finally just fell apart.
