Honestly, its not your cabinets. it’s the lack of lighting and that dark blue wall that is soaking up your light. you need some cans over your task areas, at the island, and under your cabinets to start with.

I would lighten up the ceiling and add more lighting in general. Agreed with the above commenter. The blue wall is absorbing all of the light leaving dark shadows. Then you can add a new coat of paint of a lighter color on your cabinets and swap out the hardware.

Here's a little rough sketch I came up with assuming you'd be keeping the cabinets. I have gave you tile backsplash with different hues of warm beige and greige, painted your ceiling white, installed bright white LED recessed lights. I also added three leg hanging lights over your island for more lighting.

I would recover the stools in a black & white or gray & white chevron our hounds tooth print, take the valance down for more lighting and add some under cabinet lighting which is really easy to do. Try to keep the clutter off the counter tops because that adds a little more brightness.

I originally thought that was a blue wall on the right of the photo, now I see it's a hallway with a blue light.

I could have done a better job but the lighting in the pics you provided was dark & I was using my phone - but I thought you might enjoy an unofficial mock-up 😉
