quartz help
Comments (19)I'm sorry to jump in, but never did this before & not sure how to post, etc., but I'm desperate for help on the counter top subject. Please, any specific name suggestions of countertops or photos for our custom kitchen cabinets of cherry wood with a burgundy/cranbery custom mixed stain. I am having a very hard time visualizing what color counter top would go best. I was hoping for a formal look and also still need to choose the floor (unsure of whether wood-look laminate or ceramic). I'd like to pick the countertop 1st and then the floor. Note: Kitchen is only 10 X 12. Recently we went to view a large slab of Silestone quartz in Stellar Rose (which my husband & I THOUGHT we loved) at "Vangura's world-class fabricating facility" which we were very impressed with. However, much to our dismay, we both ended up hating the Stellar Rose! I was originally concerned that the mirror flecks would look too "disco-ish", however after viewing, it was the rose blotches that were horrendous! The sample we had looked NOTHING like the actual piece. We were grateful that we made the 90 minute trip to the facility, and were spared a $6000 mistake! However, now after 4 months of research & decision making, weÂre right back at square one, searching for our "perfect" choice again. We were certain we wanted quartz, but after seeing all the beautiful slabs, we are considering granite. Ultimately found 1 slab of granite we love, and a few possibilities. The problem is that Vangura assigns their own names & faxes info directly to our Kitchen Designer for the price quote. 1 we loved was named "Marrone 8000 South America Brazil 8010 TGB". It was consistent pattern of grey, black, silver white (very iridescent). The problem is we were not allowed to photograph them or buy a sample, etc. and I already cannot remember exactly what the Marrone 8000 looks exactly like & cannot comparison shop not knowing its actual names. Does any one have any idea how we can find out its "real" name to comparison shop? Also are considering Uba Tuba (which obviously they kept itÂs name), but am afraid that the darker color will show every streak & fingerprints, etc. Finally, after, reading all the horror stories about granite staining, cracking, clouding, being doctored, to seal or not seal, etc. I dont know if quartz is better, but now am afraid of quartz "pooling"!!! Sorry this is so long but any help will be greatly appreciated!...See MoreQuartz or Dekton/Neolith?
Comments (254)I just found this thread and it is very helpful to what I am working on now but first and foremost, I would like to share my condolences on the loss of your husband. I lost a husband many years ago and still recall how difficult it was. It is a journey, with ups and downs, but you will find a new normal life for you and your family. I am working on a condo kitchen reno and was trying to decide if I should recommend Dekton vs Silestone to the client. They really like the new Silestone - Ethereal Glow that has some warm gold veining in it. HOWEVER, she is not the best housekeeper and I wonder about stains and they also had a counter for 25+ years in their old house that was heat proof (can't recall what it was but it was not concrete). Based on this conversation I took a quick look at Dekton REM and it might be a better solution. What is the recommended edge for Dekton? The only other kitchen/bath reno I have done is a kitchen with a Cambria - Berwyn counter....See MoreGood substitute for Silestone Ethereal Glow?
Comments (0)Cabinets are navy island, white perimeter. Paint plan is SW Shoji White (takes on the beige in my home). HW floors are Bruce Sugar White Oak. SS appliances, gold hardware. My primary counter selection is on 5 week back order, and we are ready to go! Silestone Etherial Glow. I loved the dark gray light veining with gold sparkle veins as I was hoping to do a backsplash with gold grout. It checked the boxes in regards to beauty but not a focal point. Any suggestions? Preferable a nice white background, not in the gray undertones. Light veining like marble is preference. Opinions? I found these online, but have not seen yet. Silestone Et Dor Silestone Pulsar Silstone Eternal or Quartz White...seems to be only at Lowes. Comments (19)I have a white kitchen and I am debating painting my island SW Riverway. My floors are Ipe and they are a red tone as well. Here are a few Riverway kitchens I had saved. SW Riverway Here it is mocked up in your kitchen. I left the pantry side the light color. I added a white and grey veined marble or ”marble-look” counter that you have planned. For the backsplash I just happened to pick a white or very light grey in a tiny herringbone pattern. I would keep it light and match the counter. Of course you would have to see samples of the teal green color in your kitchen’s lighting. I brought home a gazillion little color chips before finding one I liked. My next step is to get an actual paint sample to try. Like others have mentioned, because of the lack of windows, you may decide it is just too dark. Could you play around painting the cabinets you have since you plan to get new ones anyways? Oh and check out the color just above riverway….Moody blue! Ha! I think I remember some pros here saying that SW paint is not for cabinets. Your cabinet maker will know what kind is to be used for cabinets. I just thought it would give you an idea of how the colors would look....See MoreP Wani
