Your ceilings are not really that high, don't worry about decorating all of the tall wall. I read here once that if you decorate nicely at the people level, your tall ceiling will make your space look nice and airy, not bare. I would do one or two big items like Olychick posted, there is not need to decorate the whole wall. Add some texture, color and height variation to your side table and coffee table and it will help anchor your "people" space.

Don’t like the tv in front of the window. I’d put the couch in front of the building view window and the tv on the big wall. the one thing that might make me switch the tv to the corner and the couch on the wall would be if one of us stays up late watching tv and the other is in the bed in the adjacent bedroom. Tv sounds wouldntravel through the bedroom wall and disturb the sleeper. M

Thanks @kayozzy. I'm a total newbie . Don't know why it didn't occur to me that there were joists along the line where the wires currently hang. So all I'd need are 3"x1/4" eye lags and hanging wire to strengthen the grid at certain points. Thinking about it more, though, if I were to hang the light directly from the joist via the wires (with a hole in the ceiling tile), I think it would sway unreasonably. I guess I'm back to hanging from the ceiling grid directly, and I'll just have to stay close to the points that are wire-supported from a joist. Does that sound reasonable for hanging 8lbs?

Don't install a wafer light. The light source too close to the plane of the ceiling and easily visible from below -- and reflected in the TV screen. Instead, purchase a recessed light with a light source that is "deeply regressed" i.e., tucked up inside the light.
