I used that product for a while when I had thinning hair due to some medication. I thought it was great but eventually didn’t need it any more. I think I still have it but I suppose it’s not any good after all this time. I suppose I should dispose of it rather than having it take up space. I have a problem with retaining leftover products I no longer use….

I've worn Kiehl's Butterstick lip balm (Touch of Berry) for years. Even the past 2 years under my mask. Made me feel like I was still making the effort. Thought I got a great deal last December with their discount then realized why. It's been discontinued.

Oh no, I've used Redken 06 ever since I saw it recommended here some years ago. I have a bottle left, but lately I've been using Big Sexy Hair blow dry volumizing gel. It's a good alternative. (I have fine, straight hair that doesn't do Big Sexy but this at least gets me compliments, along with a good cut.)

I guess nothing lasts forever, at least cosmetics and hair products don’t

No matter what cosmetic type product that I find that I like, no matter how many years it's been in production, if I like it, it WILL be discontinued I guarantee it! OR if not discontinued, they will change the formula and it may as well have been discontinued because it is no longer the product that I liked. Story of my life and the products that I have loved...boohoo!

^^^This is me too. I’m currently waiting for the next-in-line product to disappear. The current ones for me are Aveeno gel cleanser and my favorite Jo Malone cologne. It’s another reason I grit my teeth whenever Estee Lauder buys out another cosmetic company. You can see it coming.

I’m sorry you’ve lost your favorite Redken product. Funkyart just had a thread about hair products, maybe you can revisit that for ideas.

I used it too but I found that Bed Head "full of it" is much better. I put it on the hair but not the roots as most thickeners can cause hair loss. It's in a purple can and I get mine from my local Sally store.

Oh, I forgot, it's a foam and you put a bit in your hand and it puffs up and makes it easy to put on hair strands.

In the same boat as you, dedtired. I used 08 for many years, had to change to 06 when the 08 was discontinued. I saw the discontinued and quickly ordered, have two 16 oz bottles 06 coming. With what I already had here, that makes a year or more's worth in my closet and will give me some time to find the perfect replacement - and its nothing I have to think about right now.

I did use an alternative when staying with a friend a while back and didn't find it significantly different :) The name is unfortunate I think, Tigi Bed Head 'Control Freak' serum. It's about the same weight and texture (a gel-like lotion), did not leave my hair looking over controlled or freakish. I have a chin length bob with bangs and like it to be soft, stay reasonable throughout the day into evening, brush quickly back into place if I've been gardening in wind.

Now if someone would just point me at a product like the old Redken Quickdry finishing spray. I only used it occasionally, but in 3 or so years have not been able to find anything remotely similar even trying many brands in a wide price range.

I'm still distraught over chocolate graham crackers being taken out of production.

Okay, the last two times I've washed my hair using no cream rinse, my hair has gone flatter than a pancake. Today it's actually humid and it's still flat!

Neither Aquage or Got2be mousse is working, although I could use some more blond streaks. Then I read about volumizing shampoo and the majority consensus says NO do not use it.

Help! I want it to be volumized after I blow dry it, not putting curlers in.

Email them and ask why the product was discontinued. :)

Email them and ask if they have a replacement product they recommend. Sometimes they make the tiniest change to a product and then completely rebrand it.

If they don't, google the ingredient list. If you find some other brand that has the same first five ingredients (in the same order), it will likely be a good dupe. (edit: this particular ingredients list is really bizarre. you might not find a dupe for this one, but it's a good trick to employ for other products.)

Oakley, the problem with volumizing shampoo is that when you rinse it, it flows down your body and volumizes THAT. ;)

Before I use my Revlon Volumizer brush, I spray my roots with Living Proof Volume spray

Redken suggests FULL FRAME 07 ALL-OVER VOLUMIZING MOUSSE to replace 06, but it doesn get very good reviews.

LOL bpath! Ded, I did. I was in such a p*** poor mood because of what's going on in the world. I'm better now, didn't watch a bit of news today.

My highlight kit should come in any day and it can't come soon enough. This is day 3 after a shampoo and my hair should have natural volume where I use the scrunchie in my ponytail. It falls down! Maybe I didn't rinse the shampoo out very well.. But the highlights help tremendously with volume.

And don't get me started on those wisps of hair near my temple that flies into my eyes. I've been trimming and pulling them.

I’ve been using 06 for years and just went to buy some yesterday and it was all gone!😭 This happened to me before and it took forever to find something that works. I have baby fine thin hair and its not easy to work with it. I feel your pain!!

I am still ekeing out my last bottle. I never really liked mousse, I prefer a gel, but maybe ill try the volumizing mousse. Sigh.

Ded, the only mousse that works perfectly for me, only if I have highlights, is Aquage Uplifting Foam. But it's not as potent if I don't have highlights. Nothing else comes close.

I am down to about one quarter of a bottle of Redken 06. Still looking for the perfect replacement.

I too have used that Redken 06 for years. I have tried other things but nothing works, The day after I shampoo, it is flat and looks terrible. Spend lots of money trying new things but just wasting my money. Have never understood why companies discontinue products that a lot of people used.

It's quite disappointing of Redken to discontinue product that actually works. I am now trying bed head small talk plus Kevin Murphy Full again and it is giving me half the result. So somehow managing for now. Still looking for better products. I believe the key is searching for hair thickening lotions only and not mousse, etc.
