Replacing irrigation controllers with a "smart" master controller

We have a large semi-rural property that currently has 8 irrigation controllers for 40+ zones. The previous homeowner put them in and it's a pain walking around to adjust them when it rains. I'd like to replace them with a "smart controller" but am uncertain if we can "daisy-chain" multiple smart controllers to cover about 1 acre (it's a 6 acre property but we don't have irrigation everywhere).

I asked our gardener, who said Hunter is a good brand but he doesn't know if they have a model where multiple controllers can be connected and accessed in the app.

Before I start getting landscaper bids, I thought I'd ask for advice. Is it even feasible to have one master controller over such a large area? Can multiple controllers be connected?

Thanks in advance!
