Nasturtiums for hanging baskets?
Comments (2)They make lovely hanging baskets and mine bloomed within six weeks of sowing outside. They breezed through our late cold snaps as long as I covered them when frost was forecast. Your summers are cooler than mine so you can probably keep them going a long time. This year was my first experience with them, and I love them. I planted a half dozen kinds and they all seem to be comparable in their performance so far. Unfortunately, they are starting to suffer from the heat in full sun already. I may try them again come fall and see how long they'll go into our cooler months....See MoreStarting Zinna,Nasturtium and Cosmo's outdoors
Comments (3)adair, since they've just sprouted, wait it out a week and until these are of good size and has produced a true set of leaves, keep it under a hydrating dome. Then do the steps you have just described, slowly hardening them off. Otherwise, I would have suggested that you can sow your seeds directly outside now....See MoreGarden Shots, its really starting to bloom here.
Comments (6)Its hot and humid here in the summer too. Just not summer weather here yet and summers are not as long. I am due to spray on friday and sprayed two weeks ago on friday. Usually I start fairly early in spring every two weeks but I was so busy this year, I didn't get to it. The roses stayed very clean and were just starting to think about blackspot. I don't use insectacides as I have worked much to hard to make my garden attractive to birds, butterflies, hummers and bees. Some bugs around just goes with having a garden. The birds help out by finding lots of bugs for me. But fungicide, yes, I can not get along without spraying my roses with fungicide. Honestly, you guys don't hear about it that much because were on the daylily forum but early june is rose time around here. I will be continueing to post pics every few days in the rose gallery forum so if anyone would like to see more of my roses, just check back there from time to time. Thank you all for the compliments on my roses. I had the rose obsession before the daylily obsession and could not part with them....See MoreHelp starting nasturtium seed
Comments (1)Just plant them. In fact I wouldn't even use up indoor facilities for them. You can direct sow them. They self sow all over my allotment. They are one of the easiest plants to grow from seed....See Moremybrownthumbz6
